Tekhnoelast EPP. Technical characteristics and modifications of technoelast

The development of technology does not stand still. This also affected the construction market. More and more advanced materials are being created that have high strength, durability and reliability. One of these materials is technoelast EPP, the technical characteristics of which make it the most popular. This article describes what technoelast is, where it is used. Its modifications and composition will be considered, as well as what the letters E and P mean for the technical characteristics of the EPP technoelast.

What is technoelast?

Tekhnoelast is a roll roofing deposited material, which is characterized by high reliability, waterproofing capabilities and high strength. Due to its properties, technoelast can be used in any climatic conditions. Technoelast is used for roofing, waterproofing the foundation, pool, garage and other structures.

The production technology consists in applying a layer of a mixture of bitumen, SBS thermoplastic (and its modifications) and filler on a solid and sufficiently flexible base from both sides. SBS is an artificial rubber, and talc, dolomite and other substances can serve as fillers. The top and bottom layers are a film or a crumb. It is the film that protects the material from gluing during storage in a roll, and also it is melted during the installation of technoelast. The crumb can be either coarse or fine. Shale, sand, etc. are used in its quality.

Decoding abbreviations and basic modifications of technoelast

Tekhnoelast is available in several versions, each of which has its own conditions and scope. And the letters that are indicated in the modification are deciphered as follows:

  • The first letter of the abbreviation is the material from which the base is made. It can be: polyester (ether) - E, canvas - X or fabric - T;
  • The second letter of the abbreviation is the type of upper protective layer. It can be: crumb - K, a film (or fine-grained sprinkling) - P;
  • The third letter of abbreviation is the type of undercoat. It also happens in two types - baby (K) and film (P).

Depending on the combination of these layers, the Technonikol company offers several varieties of technoelast:

  • Tekhnoelast EPP - waterproofing agent for various construction projects. It is used both for roofs of various types, and for waterproofing floors, buildings, foundations, boiler houses, pools and other buildings. In addition to absolute water resistance, it also has high extensibility and has high heat resistance. EPP is made of polyester fiber, on which SBS thermoplastic and filler are applied. The bottom layer is a film, and the top is a fine-grained sprinkle. If it is used as a waterproofing for building structures, then it is deposited in two layers using a torch.
  • Tekhnoelast EKP - roof waterproofing, which is used as the top layer. Often they use it with EPP technoelast, thereby increasing the reliability of roofing. Differs in ECP with high heat resistance and perfectly tolerates low temperatures (up to -30 ). Polyester (which is not subject to decay) with a layer of bitumen, thermoplastic and filler serves as the main layer for the production of ECP. It is covered with a large mineral film on top, and a protective film serves as the bottom layer.
  • Tekhnoelast TKP is used as a roofing material of the upper layer of a roofing sheet. It can also withstand high loads, so it is often used as a waterproofing material for underground facilities. The rolled material has high strength, increased reliability, is resistant to steam and temperature jumps. Fiberglass is used as the basis for TKP technoelast, which is covered with SBS-bitumen with thermoelast on top. The top layer is crumb, and the bottom layer is film.
  • Tekhnoelast KhPP is a hydroinsulator, which is used mainly as the lower layer for roofing of the roof, foundation, pool, etc. It is characterized by frost resistance and heat resistance.
  • TKP roll material consists of fiberglass coated with SBS-modified bitumen and filler, and a film. Due to the lack of polyester and chips, it has the smallest thickness - 3 mm.

Technical characteristics of technoelast EPP

Technical characteristics of waterproofing tehnoelast EPP:

The characteristics of the manufactured technoelast correspond to the technical characteristics of the EPP technoelast according to GOST 30547-97.

Advantages and disadvantages

Like any material, technoelast EPP has its advantages and disadvantages.

Technoelast benefits:

  1. Long service life. Waterproofing can last up to 30 years.
  2. High quality raw materials for the manufacture of technoelast.
  3. Resistant to various types of exposure - mechanical, biological, air.
  4. It can be used on any surface.
  5. Environmentally friendly. That is, it does not harm either man or the environment.
  6. High elasticity at large temperature fluctuations.
  7. It has high thermal specifications. Tekhnoelast EPP also has high waterproofing and perfectly absorbs sound.
  8. Easy to style and fit.
  9. Strong bonding with a variety of surfaces.

Disadvantages of technoelast:

  1. When mounting, it is important that the surface is flat.
  2. A small selection of colors.
  3. Burner heating is longer.
  4. Cost is above average.

Application area

Technoelast waterproofing has gained great popularity in various construction works. Due to its technical characteristics, Technoelast EPP is used primarily where protection against moisture penetration is needed. It is also used as a material for a roofing carpet.

In case of need of repair, technoelast is applied in one layer. If you need a new coating, then you need to apply two layers. At the same time, the top layer looks quite attractive, which avoids unnecessary spending on the decorated coating.

Installation and storage

For the long life of the waterproofing, it is necessary not only to choose it correctly, but also to lay and fix it correctly.

The sequence of work is as follows:

  1. The surface to which the technoelast will be attached must be thoroughly cleaned of dust. If there are potholes and pits, then they should be cemented. Then degrease the surface of the structure.
  2. To ensure the adhesion of the technoelast, the base must be coated with a bitumen primer or diluted with bitumen mastic with gasoline (1: 3 ratio).
  3. At this step, it is necessary to roll and cut the cloth.
  4. Heat the bottom layer with a gas burner and press it to the base. All subsequent sheets are surfaced with an overlap of 9-10 cm.

Keeping technoelast is quite easy. First of all, it should be placed in a room with dry air, which is well ventilated. Folding the rolls on the shelves is necessary in an upright position and so that they are from the radiators at a distance no closer than a meter.

If you need to provide maximum waterproofing, then the ideal solution would be technoelast EPP. Technical characteristics of the rolled material allow you to serve reliably and for a long time.
