Do you want to make your child an inexpensive and comfortable outfit in which he can show off not only at the holiday, but even play with friends? Then take note of this option:

You will need:

• Green pajamas (if there isn’t the right size, just a T-shirt and panties will do too).
• Thin felt of different colors: coffee, orange for dressings (if you are doing exactly Michelangelo, but in general each turtle has its own color and weapon).
• Baking dish.
• Green paint in a spray can.
• Brown chalk.
• Toy Nunchucks.
• Adhesive thermal tape.
• Iron.
• Velcro.
• Scotch.
• Glue gun.
• Scissors.

Costume Workflow

1. From the coffee-colored felt, we cut an oval to make the abdomen of a “turtle”. Chalk draw a press on it.
2. It uses pajamas, which fastens with a zipper. Therefore, felt was glued to the right side on a thermal tape, and Velcro was sewn on the left. So you can conveniently unfasten the false abdomen and remove / put on pajamas for the child.
3. Now we take the usual plastic nunchucks and use a glue gun to decorate them with brown and coffee felt.
4. We turn to the carapace: the height of the sides of the form for the child is too big, so they should be cut off and the edges trimmed with tape so as not to cut themselves. We paint the can foil in green. When it dries, glue Velcro on top and bottom, do the same on pajamas so that the carapace is held on the back of the child.
5. If you can’t find such a shape from the foil, then you can get by with painted cardboard shell or sew a small oval-shaped pillow.
6. From orange felt we cut out a mask, elbow pads and knee pads, and from brown - a belt.
7. The latter is useful to additionally fix the shell on the back of a small fidget.

Costumes for adults

Simple estimates show that the children who watched the first episodes of the animated series in 1987 reached middle age, the younger fans are about 30 years old. And they continue to love the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series. An adult costume can also be made independently. It can be of different difficulty levels, depending on the event where they are going to wear it. For instance:

• You can be “in shape” at least every day, if you combine clothes of the corresponding colors and use large colored glasses instead of blindfolds :
  
• For a small theme party or bachelor party, you can get by with a fairly simple version: pick up T-shirts, shorts or leggings in green, draw an abdomen and press with paints on the fabric. Make masks on the face with watercolors, put on green knee-high socks, and make bandages on the elbows and knees from the fabric of the corresponding color. • And here is another example where the girls approached the task more thoroughly, making foil carapace and cardboard bibs. We added a plastic weapon, and the image is ready.

Let's complicate the task

For gathering fans or large parties, you need a costume of ninja turtles more serious. You can again do with a large baking dish as a shell, but it needs to be beautifully painted.

Most adult home-made costumes use elements made from papier-mâché. As a rule, this is the head, arm, legs, carapace and bib. Enthusiasts can also add the muscles made in this technique.

To make this costume, a lot of thick paper was taken. The head and hands are made of papier-mâché, which is pasted over an approximate blank of cardboard glued with adhesive tape. Then newspapers, flour, water and glue were used. They took one ping-pong ball for the eyes, cut it in half and painted it. Feet are also made of papier-mâché, but old sneakers were used as the basis.

I had to buy a one-color green suit, then the finished elements were painted with acrylic paints to match it. If you will make such an outfit, do not forget to immediately mix a lot of paint, because if it ends, it will be difficult to repeat a specific shade.

A more complex technique was required for the shell: first, each of its elements is cut out of cardboard, then glued with hot glue from a gun (carefully, you can burn yourself more than once). This results in a convex blank, the volume and topography of which was imparted with the help of brown packets for sandwiches and paints.

The bib is made of several layers of cardboard and foamiran (foam for needlework).

• Fatin different shades of green.
• Elastic.
• Scissors.
• Needle with thread.
• Form for cooking.
• White sports top and knee-highs.
• Green paint in a spray can for fabric.
• Watercolor.
• Black lace.
• Old t-shirt.

Production Order:

1. First, paint the top and socks in green.
2. Then we make a skirt: we cut off the elastic band at the waist circumference (keep in mind that it stretches). Sew it in a circle, cut tulle into thin strips. Fold it in half and fasten it with a loop on an elastic band. So repeat until you get a fluffy skirt.
3. We paint the aluminum shape in green, thread the laces to wear it like a backpack.
4. From an old T-shirt of a suitable color, cut strips on the head, elbows, knees.

The result is a great suit. The self-made ninja turtle is ready. It remains only to paint the abdomen and back with a green watercolor , and make the cubes on the press a lighter color.
