Lanskoye Shosse is the highway of St. Petersburg, passing from the shore of the Black River to the beginning of Engels Avenue. This road formed a long time ago. Since the end of the 18th century, the territory located between the Black River and the Vyborg Highway was the property of representatives of an ancient noble family - Lansky. It was from their surname that the name of the original road went, which later turned into an avenue, as well as the street that departs from it. A little later, the bridge got a similar name. Since 1962, this road was called differently. It was named in honor of the chairman of the executive committee of the Lengorsovet N.I. Smirnova. The former name returned to the highway only in 1991.
Active development of these territories took place from 1950 to 1970. It was immediately evident that in all houses the apartments located on the ground floors and having access to the Lanskoye Highway were used as retail space.
