Chinos-trousers got their name from the Spanish name of China, where they come from. Although another version says that these pants were designed by an American officer and were already made by the Chinese in his design. Be that as it may, for almost the entire second half of the 19th century, they were part of the US military uniform. And only in 1906, LEVI's company launched them into mass production under the “khaki” brand, so named because of color. But they gained popularity only in 1942, having entered the mass sale.
So what so fascinated the American consumer? The answer is simple - chinos have a simple and comfortable shape. Loosely located on the waist and hips, they gradually taper to the line of the ankle, ending at the level of 5 centimeters from it. Moreover, this style is typical for both male and female models. In addition, there are widespread models in which the edge of the leg is bordered by a cuff that creates the impression of casually folded legs.
The second distinguishing feature of these trousers is the material from which they are sewn. 100% cotton is traditionally used to create all models. Some designers prefer to expand the list with natural linen or silk. By the way, it is this combination of style and material that determines the time of year when chinos are best worn. Of course, these are warm spring and autumn, as well as languid hot summers.
Speaking of the color palette, it should be noted that the classic tones of such pants are sand, olive and dark blue. But already in the 60s it was seriously expanded, and designers are happy to showcase black, white, yellow, purple, green, red trousers. The most eccentric models can be painted in "animal" prints or include a combination of three or more tones.
Chinos in the image
Chinos occupy the most natural position in casual style. They are combined with tops, shortened or long cardigans, Cobain-style shirts, thin pullovers. It is perfectly permissible to combine them with ballet flats, sandals on a massive wedge or classic boats.
But the evening look with them will look elegant. To do this, it is enough to withstand it in a classic black and white combination. Pair black chinos with a white top to complement your outfit with sandals or stiletto heels. Accessories should be designed in a minimalist style.
A masculine look with chinos is a prime example of a street chic style. The most unusual combinations are allowed: a classic coat and a “grandmother's” sweater, a classic gray military jacket and chinos, a grunge shirt and an Oxford student jacket.
The only thing that stylists strongly recommend when choosing items for an image with chinos is to combine, if possible, things from natural fabrics. After all, the very essence of these pants speaks about the eco-orientation of its owner.
