Only cold and gloomy walls with small windows, or even without them. Russian prisons can become a “home” for a long time for those who have stumbled and are forced to suffer punishment.

No one in life is safe from misconduct. Everyone, for various reasons, may one day end up on the other side of the grid. And if for some the word “Butyrka” is associated with a popular musical group, then others are familiar with this place firsthand.
Butyrskaya prison is one of the largest places of imprisonment in Moscow, which is located on Novoslobodskaya street near Butyrskaya outpost between residential buildings. The prison has been known since the end of the 18th century. Many famous people were her prisoners. For example, N.E. Bauman, F.E. Dzerzhinsky, V.V. Mayakovsky, E. Pugachev. One of the towers of the prison even bears the name of its “guest” - Pugachev. Strange sounds are sometimes heard from her basement. Maybe it's the cries of innocently punished souls? In a word, terrible terrain.
The second place among the famous dungeons is occupied by the Crosses. The prison was named because of the peculiarity of its structure. Criminals sentenced to solitary confinement get here. At this stage, they plan to move the prison outside the city limits, and sell this building (and for a tidy sum!).
The next in the list of “famous prisons of Russia” - Lefortovo prison - a place characterized by cruelty and severity. The dungeon was founded in the 19th century and at first was the "refuge" of small thieves and robbers. The building has four floors, each of which has fifty cameras. Lefortovo "prison" is covered in mystery and darkness. Until now, not a single journalist has managed to get there. So no one knows what life is inside.
The most terrible prisons in Russia
It so happened that some places of deprivation of liberty more than others induce fear and horror on prisoners. The most terrible and cruel prison was nicknamed "Black Dolphin" in the Orenburg region. By the number of places, this is the largest colony, which in its entire history "did not miss" a single hostage. This prison is also called a place for suicide bombers, because they are serving their sentences for life. Prisoners of the “Black Dolphin” are the most brutal killers and rapists, cannibals and terrorists, whose hands killed thousands of innocent people.
Throughout the day in a dungeon it is forbidden to sit on bunks, and always take out for a walk blindfolded. Convicted willy-nilly turn into obedient zombie robots. But even one can get used to such a life.
The second place terrible for criminals is the White Swan, whose contingent is prisoners convicted of especially serious crimes. Serving a term in this zone will completely dispel the myths of the distant nineties. Here not one "thief in law" was broken.
Women's Prisons in Russia
In the Russian Federation, out of 739 existing colonies, 35 are female. In ten of them, you can serve your sentence with your child (Samara, Sverdlovsk region, Khabarovsk, Chelyabinsk, Vladimir, Moscow and Kemerovo regions).
Often women go to jail while they are pregnant. The birth of a baby does not affect the punishment in any way (only in some cases they can reduce the time). The life of such “mothers” looks a little better - nutrition is healthier, and walks are longer, therefore many keep their pregnancy because of such indulgences. After giving birth, children are allowed to spend only a few hours a day. When the child reaches the age of three, he is given either to the orphanage or to his immediate family. If there are none, and the orphanages are crowded, there is a possibility that Russian prisons will become “houses” for children.
Life goes on
Those people who go to jail for the first time always have the thought: “Well, that’s it! Life is over ... " But this is far from the case. Behind bars, life does not end, but on the contrary, a new one begins. New rules, new society, new interests and activities.
Prisoners have their own daily routine, in which, in addition to work, there is a place for rest. Many prisons in Russia are equipped with sports fields, libraries, lounges, where you can watch a documentary or film. There are also small churches in prisons, because it’s never too late to repent.
If we talk about work, then there is no easy labor in prison. Mostly prisoners are engaged in casting from steel, woodworking and sewing all kinds of necessary things. So time passes faster, and a penny of some kind can be earned.

No one in this life is ever safe from anything. An exemplary and law-abiding citizen today may already tomorrow become a repeat offender. Serving a term is re-education, rebirth, it is a new view of existence. And even though the most cruel life-long prisons in Russia (like the "Black Dolphin" and "White Swan") catch up with melancholy and fear, it is important to remember that there is its own, completely different life.
