PVL sheet - a popular type of metal rolling

PVL sheet is a material created by special technology. For its manufacture, various metal products are used: from low-carbon steel, galvanized, brass, aluminum, copper, and also made of stainless steel. Expanded metal sheets have found wide application in modern construction, industry and the national economy.

Currently, several PVL grades are being produced (the thickness of the sheet is indicated in parentheses):

  • grade 406 (4 mm);
  • grades 506, 508, 510 (5 mm);
  • grades 606, 608, 610 (6 mm).

Application

PVL sheet is, first of all, a material for construction. But its performance is actively used in production and in everyday life. Here is an incomplete range of PVL applications:

  • arrangement of flooring, flights of stairs, steps and flights for construction work;
  • construction of maintenance sites in various industries;
  • reinforcement of reinforced concrete structures;
  • production of protective grilles and viewing windows in mechanical engineering;
  • manufacturing of grilles for heating radiators;
  • the creation of reinforcing elements when applying plaster;
  • construction of enclosures, fences;
  • production of various containers;
  • construction of verandas, arbors and balconies;
  • creation of non-slip flooring;
  • the installation of reflective fences on the roads with oncoming traffic;
  • for separation of various raw materials into fractions by sieving;
  • manufacturing of various decorative elements;
  • lining construction during passage in mines and power plants;
  • manufacturing of other metal structures for various purposes.

Production technology

PVL sheet is made by perforating a steel sheet with its further drawing. This method of production eliminates the formation of waste, which reduces the cost of the finished product. Modern technology allows you to maintain a sufficient level of strength expanded metal sheet.

Consider briefly each stage of production.

  • Stage 1. On a solid metal sheet with the help of special knives, the notch is evenly applied in a checkerboard pattern. The main forms of cuts are “scales” and “rhombus”.
  • Stage 2. The sheet with the cut is subjected to stretching until then, until the cells take the necessary shape and size.
  • Stage 3. An elongated web with finished notch is rolled between special shafts. This is necessary so that the PVL metal sheet becomes flatter and less subjected to deformation during further operation. During the rolling process, the cells should be located in the direction of movement of the sheet.

Production is carried out in accordance with regulatory specifications (TU 36.26.11-5-89 and TU 27.1-25484714-001). The manufacture of PVL from low alloy steel is carried out according to GOST 8706-78. If metal is used from brass, aluminum or galvanized steel, then GOST 380-94 is observed.

Benefits

How good is a material such as expanded metal sheet? PVL has a number of positive properties. Rolling technology allows you to create a sheet of metal that is quite resistant to deformation , capable of maintaining a given shape. PVL sheet has a lower weight than rolled metal without perforations. Due to this property, the installation of PVL is greatly facilitated. Good material strength determines the ability of the sheet to withstand heavy loads and makes it possible to cut PVL without spreading the mesh. In addition, the presence of notches prevents slipping.

PVL sheet price

Cost

In the construction market, various types of metal rolling are very much in demand, including PVL sheet. Its price depends on the width, which can be equal to 50, 60, 71, 80, 90 or 100 cm, as well as on what metal the sheet is made of. You can purchase a 406 expanded metal from 1100 rubles apiece. The cost of this material grade 508 is from 2100 rubles per sheet. PVL made of galvanized steel and aluminum is cheaper than a perforated sheet of alloy steel and copper. In addition, the price depends on the area of the sheet, and on the size of the cells, and in many cases is contractual.
