Belarusian, Kazan, Yaroslavsky, Paveletsky, Kursky, Kiev, Riga, Savelovsky and Leningradsky - nine railway stations in Moscow. But how to get to the October station? And in Nikolaev? What, they’ve never even heard of such people? The time has come to reveal the secret ... We are talking about one of the already mentioned stations - Leningradsky.

In 1844, by decree of Nicholas I, the construction of a station for trains on Kalanchevskaya Square in Moscow began. Just at the site of the demolished Italian theater, as it was then called, the “station” - the vocal hall (“voxhall”). Not surprisingly, the locals decided that a new theater was being built.

And although they were mistaken, train stations are still called train stations. And in terms of entertainment and striking events, the Nikolaevsky station exceeded the wildest expectations. And if people were reluctant to gather in the frivolous theater on the outskirts of the city, then the railway launched in 1851 became a center of attraction for people.

The arrival of each train, and this action of the natural theater of life, although it was rare, became a colorful sight. Kalachevskaya Square gained fame, and the ceremonial structure of the station with columns and the famous three-hour tower turned out to be the center of meetings, partings and breaking news brought from the Northern capital. By the way, the building of the Nikolaev station is a copy, reduced almost twice, of the Petersburg station.

Soon, Nikolaevsky will change its name to October Station. In revolutionary times, he steadfastly held the defense and was devoted to the monarchical foundations until the seventeenth year. But even then the station was not yet renamed, even despite the monument to Lenin erected there. In 1923, in memory of the rebellious past, Moscow called the Oktyabrskaya Station - in honor of the revolution.

In 1933, Kalanchevskaya Square became Komsomolskaya Square, and in 1934 the Oktyabrsky Station was reconstructed. At the disposal of passengers appeared telegraph, information desk, post office and savings bank, new ticket offices, a room for mother and child, as well as a rest room for people passing by. In 1937, Moscow October Station was renamed Leningradsky. The metro station, opened here in 1952, was named Komsomolskaya, as well as the square on which the station is located.
