It is also successfully used in traditional carpentry. In addition to holes for door and window fittings, they drill various natural defects of wood - knots, tar pockets, mechanical damage to the structure and foreign inclusions. A diameter-accurate element of pure wood is inserted into the resulting hole. It is cut with a special tool, the same diameter as the Forstner drill. This technology can significantly save expensive dry wood and improve the quality of
carpentry. The negative aspects include the difficulty of sharpening such a tool and its relatively high cost compared to conventional twist drills. But this pays off by the efficiency of its operation with significant production volumes.
