Not often, industrial enterprises, instead of harming the environment, create unique natural beauty. One of such successful examples can be observed in the city of Dzerzhinsky (Moscow region). The beach, located on one of its former industrial quarries, harmoniously blended with the natural landscape and became a favorite vacation spot. In Dzerzhinsky for many years, mining of quartz sand was conducted, there was a mining and processing enterprise. As a result of this activity, a chain of quarries with sky blue water appeared. It is hard to believe that half an hour from Moscow there is a natural corner reminiscent of some people in Crimea, others in Switzerland, third in anything, but not in the suburbs. It is wonderful to walk and admire nature at any time of the year, and in summer, this is complemented by a great opportunity for a beach holiday with swimming and sunbathing.
Dzerzhinsky quarries
The beach in Dzerzhinsky has its own history. Once, a million years ago, on the site of the city, the waters of the prehistoric Tethys splashed. He left huge deposits of sand. According to its structure and properties, it was suitable for the production of window glasses, utensils, and medical containers. So they began to actively mine it. A mining and processing enterprise appeared in Dzerzhinsky, which ceased operations only in 2011, leaving behind several deep sand pits. Gradually they were filled with water from springs that hit from their bottom, giving the world delightful little ponds. Forests with birches, pines, sea buckthorn and rose hips surround their banks, and in some areas cliffs rise from caked and hardened, like stone, sandstone. Each body of water has its own name: Small and Big Dzerzhinsky quarry, the beach on which is the most comfortable, Forest and Quarry ZIL. The latter is almost never used for recreation, as it is contaminated with industrial and household waste. Forest is considered the farthest. It is so deep that it has become popular among divers. Its shores are overgrown with forests more than in other quarries, the beauty of which is appreciated by picnic lovers. There are several sites with spots of sand, so to speak, unequipped beaches. Among them there is even a nudist. The most convenient is the Dzerzhinsky quarry or, as they say, the Dredger. It is here that the bulk of the people come to rest.
Dzerzhinsky quarry, beach: how to get there?
The city of Dzerzhinsky is considered a satellite of Moscow because it is located very close to it, 21 km in a straight line and 26 km along the highway. It is easy to get here both by personal car and by public transport. If there are no big traffic jams, the path from MKAD will take no more than a quarter of an hour.
There are several driving directions, depending on which area of the capital the starting point will be. You can get to the metro Lublino. There, take bus number 305 (departs every 15-18 minutes), get to Dzerzhinsky, get off at the bus stop near the church, from where it’s close to quarries. You can also go from the Kuzminki metro station, where you need to catch a bus number 904 or a fixed-route taxi number 474c. And from the Ryazansky Prospekt metro to the beach in Dzerzhinsky you can take minibus No. 311. From Lyubertsy station, it is convenient to get to the quarries on minibus No. 26.
By car you need to get to the Moscow Ring Road, leave on the Novoryazanskoye highway and follow it for about 5 km to the gas station. After it, turn right onto the Dzerzhinskoye highway, approximately 700 m after the first turn, turn again, now left, cross the railway transfer, pass the greenhouses and move to the intersection (about 1 km), at which turn left again, go onto Kolkhoznaya street, cross the second train station Transfer and follow all the way to the quarry.
Description
The beach in Dzerzhinsky is very spacious, sandy, the entry into the water from this side is quite gentle, near the shore the depth is shallow, the bottom is even. Where the sand ends, a grassy shore begins, which gradually rises and becomes steep and rocky. Going down it is very difficult, and going up is even more difficult. A strip of sand about 8-10 meters wide is divided into two - Big Dzerzhinsky and Small. Dump trucks used to move along this spit. Near the quarry there is a paid checkpoint for cars (entry from 200 rubles) and a parking lot. There are cafes on the beach, there are many water activities. Following Dzerzhinsky is the Lesnoy quarry, on which there is even an islet. Previously, it was connected to the shore with a thin strip of sand, but after raising the water level it turned out to be completely cut off. Surprisingly, the water in all three quarries remains transparently clear all summer, despite the fact that there are hundreds of vacationers here. Recently opened beach and at the same time extreme freestyle complex added to them even more popularity.
