The emergence of private museums in Russia has not yet become a permanent tradition. In Moscow, there are not so many of them. One of them - the Lumiere Brothers Center - is a young private museum. Two people became its creators: Eduard Litvinsky and Natalya Grigoryeva. The establishment date is March 2010.
A little history of the institution
The location of the center was an old building located on Bolotnaya embankment. At one time, its owner was the factory "Red October". Galleries, design bureaus, architectural workshops, photo studios, restaurants and clubs - the Lumiere Brothers Center can rightfully be called the center of cultural life in the capital. Initially, it was located on the territory of 800 square meters. m. Over time, it expanded to 1000 square meters. m. This is one of the indicators of the successful development of the institution. The Lumiere Brothers Photography Center is the venue for the most resonant metropolitan exhibitions.
The building consists of three exhibition halls: Big, Small and White. Each of them acquaints its visitors with a separate exhibition exposition. 400 shots - this number can be exhibited here.
The opening of new photo exhibitions in the center takes place in two months. Russian, Soviet and foreign art of photography - this is the theme of the expositions. It can be either exhibitions, which were prepared by museum curators, or imported. The purpose of the latter is to introduce the masters of photography of foreign countries.
Special center style
The Lumiere Brothers Center has a special style. Expositions are framed only in black and white. For painting the walls used white. Everything is concise. No extra details. This discreet and laconic interior helps to feel the special rhythm of life in old pictures.
White Hall
The exhibition space of the museum is a place for organizing interesting forms of leisure. Their main principle is the combination of various types of art - this is photography, music and poetry. The White Hall is the place where celebrities perform: singers, musicians, poets. In the same room every Wednesday everyone interested in photography can become participants in master classes and seminars to improve professional skills.
The Lumiere Brothers Center is interesting not only for exhibition halls, but also for the photo gallery, which acquaints with collection photographs of Russian and foreign masters. Fans of vintage, original or printed in small prints can purchase them.
Acquainted with the exhibitions, visitors can relax in the cafe. Coffee, pastries and spiritual food - this is what the Lumiere Brothers Center offers. In the library located in the cafe you can see the magazine files of the 20th century, rare editions of photography and photo albums. The only negative is that most of the publications are presented in English. In the bookstore operating in the center, you can purchase a variety of products.
