To build a solid reliable building that can stand for not one or two decades, but for at least 100 years, you can not do without the corresponding building material - brick. Unfortunately, not all manufacturers produce bricks, which according to strength indicators meet all the requirements for it. Because of this, after a few years of operation, the first serious cracks appear on buildings made of such material.
But this cannot be said about the Old Oskol brick. How does it differ from similar products from other manufacturers?
Production Features
The brick factory in the city of Stary Oskol began production of bricks for facing purposes in 1989. Three years later, thanks to the excellent characteristics of ceramic products, builders began to consider this material as one of the best, and this situation has not changed to date. Moreover, here the first in the country began to produce products of different colors. First came red products, then (2006) straw and ivory. A year later, the collection was replenished with a building material in the colors of mocha. Today, products of a dark brown and light shade are already a classic.
To achieve high quality and compliance with GOST, brick production at all stages is carried out strictly according to technological requirements and from natural materials - sand, a mixture of clays and other types of raw materials.
Product advantages
Itβs better to understand that the Old Oskol facing brick is so high-quality, information about its advantages and positive characteristics will help.
These are:
- Product quality. There are no chips, cracks on the products, they do not crumble, and most importantly, they are the same in size.
- Environmental Safety. For manufacturing, only natural materials are used, which during the operation of buildings will not emit toxic substances hazardous to people and nature.
- Resistance to atmospheric and weathering. The integrity of the brick will not be violated by temperature extremes, rainfall, winds or any other weather disasters.
- Long service time. The manufacturer guarantees a minimum service life of its building material up to 100 years. But this is provided that no maintenance will be carried out after the construction, otherwise this period will be increased by 50%.
- Strength. Products intended for facing works are able to withstand a load of 250-300 kg per one sq. / Cm area.
Material selection
The plant produces several types of products that differ in different indicators:
- Front brick. Products of this type are distinguished by their regular shape, clear angles and a very even lateral surface.
- Shaped products. Unlike the previous view, they do not have 4 right angles. Old-Oskol shaped-shaped brick has only two or three right angles, and the other sides have a rounded or atypical shape. Thanks to this, complex geometric patterns can be laid out on the surface.
- Fireplace brick. It differs from facial products by the presence of relief patterns on one of the faces. It is possible to use fireplace-type products not only to create foci inside the house, but also to design the exterior walls, to revitalize the facade, make it unique, not like the others.
What type of material to acquire depends only on the taste of the owner of the future structure.
Types of products
The plantβs products differ not only in their external coating and shape, but also in the type of material used for manufacturing:
- Ceramic. This name is red brick, which tolerates all climatic conditions, has high strength and low moisture absorption - up to a maximum of 8%.
- Clinker brick differs from ceramic brick in the use of a higher temperature, due to which the products acquire high strength, and their structure - uniformity.
- Silicate brick in heat resistance and moisture resistance is inferior to previous analogues, because of which its area of ββuse is more limited. Silicate products are used much less frequently for cladding than ceramic and clinker products.
Everything about flaws
Like any other material, Old Oskol brick has certain disadvantages. These include, for example, the need to equip a vapor barrier when facing a wooden house. Wood allows moisture, but brick does not. And if you do not separate them, the steam missed by the wall will remain inside and lead to rotting of the tree.
Another drawback is the lack of monochrome products. This is not a marriage, because it is a consequence of technological features, but it is a problem. Example: there was not enough purchased goods, and there was a need to purchase several packs. No one will guarantee that they will be the same shade as those already bought. Conclusion: it is better to purchase a little more building material, and then there will be no problems.

Another drawback that the Old Oskol brick has is the price. It is higher than similar products from other manufacturers. But taking into account the highest quality of products and their other advantages, it becomes clear that such products cannot be cheap, and the money spent will pay off with a beautiful view of the structures and their long operating time. In the table above, prices are in rubles per unit.
