Growing tulips

Tulip is one of the most common types of flowers in the spring . Currently, there are many varieties of tulips, united in classes: terry class, fringed class, lily-colored class, parrot class, and others. This flower was brought to Holland from Turkey in the 16th century.

Tulips belong to the group of plants that in a fairly short period of time have time to grow, bloom and give offspring. The most favorable for the planting of these flowers is considered to be the period from September to the beginning of frosts.

The cultivation of tulips should occur according to certain garden norms and rules. Before planting, it is necessary to prepare the soil. To do this, it should be dug to a depth of thirty centimeters and add complex mineral fertilizers. At the beginning of April, a good root system already appears, so plants need to be fed. To protect the flower bulbs from being eaten by mice, they are best placed in wicker baskets from wire.

Tulips: planting and care

Care for these plants is negligible, they can grow in one place for several years. The main thing is that the soil contains the necessary supply of nutrients for the flowers. Growing tulips should be accompanied by top dressing in the spring at least once every few years. In autumn, the territory of flower planting should be fertilized with rotted compost. It is very important to cut non-viable flower stalks until they lose the ability to form new seed fruits. If the leaves of the tulips have wilted, then they must be removed, since the nutrients have already managed to get into the bulb.

Growing tulips can begin in the winter. To do this, you need a wooden box at the bottom of which sand and expanded clay spills out. The thickness of each layer should be about three centimeters. And on top, with a thickness of fifteen centimeters, the soil is filled up. Bulbs of tulips are planted in the prepared soil and covered with sand until about the middle. Do not forget to water. For ten days, the box with plants should be removed to a warm room. As soon as the courtyard gets warmer, the bulbs can be planted in the garden. To do this, dig a hole in the snow and install a box in it, fill it with a thick layer of snow on top. In this state, the plants should be until the beginning of April. It is from this period that tulips can be planted in the ground.

Growing tulips can be done at home, without waiting for the onset of heat. It is enough to plant the flower bulbs in small pots and arrange them around the apartment.

Growing tulips in a greenhouse must be subject to certain rules. The greenhouse should be in a well-lit place. To artificially extend the daylight hours, additional lighting can be installed in it. But at the same time, much attention should be paid to the insulation of wires due to increased humidity inside the greenhouse. In addition, a temperature sensor is needed, thanks to which you can monitor the temperature level. After all, it should not be lower than twelve degrees Celsius.

Before growing the bulbs, it is necessary to disinfect in a special solution. So they are disinfected and will be protected from various diseases. After that they are ready to land. As a rule, they are planted in rows with a distance of two to ten centimeters. When planting, it is not necessary to dig in the bulbs strongly, so as not to damage them. Tulip bulbs that have already been planted are sprinkled with earth and watered with water at room temperature using a watering can.

Summing up, I want to note that the cultivation of tulips should consist in proper care: watering, cultivating and feeding.
