Wildlife of Tajikistan

The name Alexander in those days in Asia was pronounced as Iskander. In honor of Macedon, this lake of Tajikistan got its name. And it appeared as a result of an earthquake that caused a collapse in the mountains.

Near Iskanderkul there is a waterfall. They call him Fan Niagara. Water in it falls from a height of 43 m.

Salt Mountain Khoja Mumin

Khoja Mumin is a salt mass in southern Tajikistan. The huge salt mountain in the shape of a dome rises to a height of 900 m. It can be seen for tens of kilometers in the district. The salt that forms the dome is snow-white. When you look at Khoja Mumin, it seems that the mountain is covered in snow. Thicknesses of salt accumulated in this region for more than 20 thousand years, and the mountain itself was formed in the second half of the Mesozoic era. Edible salt has been mined here since ancient times, its reserves are truly huge. They are estimated at 30 billion tons.

The dome of Khoja Mumin is cut with funnels and caves. The caves of this mountain have attracted tourists for many years. For example, “Salt Miracle” is known for the fact that an underground river flows through it. The walls are decorated with unusually beautiful salt crystals. There are salt pillars and springs with clean fresh water. In spring, the peak of Khoja Mumin is covered with a carpet of flowering poppies and tulips.
