Volgodonsk is a relatively young city, founded in 1950, during the construction of a shipping channel connecting the two most important rivers of Russia - the Volga and the Don. Today it is a dynamically developing city that has managed to combine the traditions of ancestors and advanced technologies.
Geographical position
Volgodonsk is the strategic center of Russia. The favorable geographical position allowed the city to become a major transport hub, from which you can reach more than 100 ports in 22 countries of the world by water. Their harbor can go to 5 seas: the Caspian, Azov, Black, Baltic and White.
Tsimlyansk reservoir
During the construction of the canal, the Tsimlyansk reservoir was dug , which became the source of life for the city of Volgodonsk. City of Nuclear Engineers
In the 70s of the last century, the Atommash plant was erected on the shore of the reservoir, which gave a new round to the development of the city of Volgodonsk. Sights of the city include industrial facilities, because many of them are decorated with sculptural compositions.
