The main document proving identity and confirming belonging (citizenship) to a particular state is a passport. It contains such information about the citizen as: full name, place and date of birth, marks on the registration of marriage, registration, military status. It may contain information about a criminal record, blood type and Rh factor, previous general civilian and issued passports.

In Russia, a passport is received for the first time at the age of 14. It is made in a period of not more than 10 days, as a rule, it is issued in a festive atmosphere under the national anthem.

Over time, the photos in the passport do not allow identification of its owner. As a result, there is a need to replace the main document. This obligation is fixed in the Regulation on the passport. If it is not delivered on time, it becomes invalid. There may be difficulties in obtaining loans, buying air and train tickets, as well as in other situations. That is why it must be replaced in a timely manner.

What time do I change my passport? In Russia - at the age of twenty, and also when reaching 45 years. Subsequently, for this reason, it is no longer changed. Replacing a passport is made not only by age, but also due to the following circumstances:

  • when changing the name, information about the place or date of birth;
  • gender change;
  • if the passport is unsuitable for use due to wear, any damage or other reasons;
  • with its loss (theft);
  • in other cases.

When you change your passport, you will need to return to the district department of the FMS for exchange:

  1. Application (form 1P).
  2. Passport to be replaced.
  3. 2 photos measuring 35x45 mm.
  4. Receipt (payment of state duty).

These are the main documents. In addition to them, you may need a military ID, child birth certificates, registration or divorce. The latter is not necessary to be handed over immediately, the necessary marks can also be put after receiving a new passport.

When a passport is changed, the inspector receiving the documents carefully checks them and, if any errors are found, returns them to eliminate them. The application has a number of requirements. In particular, it should be written in legible black or purple pen. It is necessary to approach to filling out the application responsibly, avoiding any blots or errors. And the photos provided should be clear. They can be color or black and white. It is forbidden to take photographs in hats, unless it is done for religious reasons, as well as in glasses with tinted glasses.

Documents, when changing a passport, must be handed in no later than 30 days after the occurrence of an event requiring this. A new passport is also issued within ten days. In some cases, this period may be extended to one month for additional verification, in order to establish identity. Then in the passport office you can get a temporary certificate by providing one photo for this, and you can also be provided with a certificate of receipt of documents if necessary.

Citizens of Russia who fail to pass passports in time may be held administratively liable. Responsibility of citizens is provided for in art. 19.15 Administrative Code, and the fine is from 15 to 20 minimum wages. That is why you need to remember the need for timely replacement of the document in order to save yourself from unplanned expenses and unwanted communication with law enforcement agencies.

When changing a passport, as a rule, they turn to the FMS unit at the place of residence. However, in the absence of the latter, the passport can also be replaced at the place of actual residence or stay.
