"Every child in the world will know the name of this boy!" - the words of Professor McGonagall were prophetic. Those children who were the first to get acquainted with the world of wizards thanks to Harry Potter have already grown up. But new generations of kids are fascinated by a wonderful fairy tale, and adults continue to believe that someday an owl will fly to their window with a letter from the Hogwarts school of magic. And therefore, for many years, the attributes of the magical world have been so popular. For example, a Gryffindor scarf can be seen even on respectable adults who probably secretly believe in the world of magic.
Colors of the Gryffindor Faculty
At the Hogwarts School of Magic, as all lovers of a fairy tale about a boy who survived, there are four faculties. They differ, let us say so, in the orientation of training, specialization, and, accordingly, in attributes.
For the Gryffindor faculty , a combination of golden yellow and burgundy colors is characteristic. It is in these colors that you should knit a Gryffindor scarf . The weaving with which such an attribute of a wizard can be connected can be very different, which one is more like.
Thread and knitting needles
The Gryffindor scarf scheme is simple - striping. The most basic thing in such a job is to choose the right knitting needles and yarn. In order to make the fabric beautiful, even, it should be taken into account when choosing a tool for work that the thickness of the spokes should correspond to the thickness of the threads. How to determine? Simply. Fold the thread in half and twist a little. The resulting skein thickness will be equal to the required thickness of the knitting needles for a good, dense, but not stretched and loose fabric.
Gryffindor's scarf, the knitting pattern of which is an alternation of multi-colored stripes, should not be too narrow, 15-20 centimeters wide, but long enough so that it can be wrapped around the neck and the ends hung below the waist. Calculation of yarn is best done by preliminary knitting a sample - dial 20 loops on the right knitting needles and knit 10 centimeters in height. Count the number of centimeters in width. Divide 20 stitches by the number of centimeters received. You get the required number of stitches per 1 centimeter of scarf width. Then multiply this number by the desired width - the number of stitches in the set is found.
Strip alternation
The most recognizable attribute of one of the faculties of the Hogwarts School of Magic and Wizardry is the Gryffindor scarf. The knitting pattern of it is very simple, one might say primitive - the alternation of golden yellow and burgundy stripes. But if you carefully watch films about Harry Potter and follow the costumes invented by artists, you can see that in the first films, the scarves worn by students of the faculty have simply wide stripes, the same size and alternating between themselves.
But the heroes of the fairy tale grew, and the scarf also changes somewhat - the drawing becomes a little more complicated. For older students, this is an alternation of two thin strips of golden yellow and a wide burgundy stripe. How to knit a scarf is not so important, everything will depend on desire, because the Gryffindor scarf is a recognizable attribute of Harry Potter fellow students thanks to the colors and the emblem in the form of a lion.
Knitting methods
How to knit a gryffindor scarf? Differently. The easiest way is to use a 1 x 1 elastic band. So, on knitting needles No. 2, dial 70 loops of burgundy yarn. Tie 10 rows and change color to yellow. Knit 4 rows, change color to burgundy, knit 4 rows, again change color to yellow and knit 4 more rows. Then knit 30 rows with burgundy threads. Alternate in two yellow stripes with burgundy gaps according to the proposed scheme.
When knitting a scarf of the faculty where Harry Potter studied, you can use a semi-patent elastic. It fits from rapports on an odd number of loops like this:
- in the 1st row - the edge loop, * 1 to remove, as the front with the yarn, 1 to sew the wrong *, repeat from * to * the required number of times, 1 to remove together with the yarn of the front, the edge loop;
- in the 2nd row, knit the crochet on the wrong side, and the next - the front loop.
Gum can be used, in principle, any, for example, patent:
- in 1 row - the edge loop, * 1 loop to remove as the wrong one, making a crochet, then knit the front loop *, repeat from * to * the required number of times, end the row by removing the wrong loop with the crochet and the edge loop;
- in the second row - the edge loop * removed with the crochet, the wrong loop is knitted with the front loop, the next is removed with the crochet *; knitting again is repeated from * to *, ends with knitting 1 front and edge.
Any fabric that you like to wear and work can be used as a fabric for knitting a scarf of a student of the Gryffindor faculty. It can be knitted in a circle with the front surface, you can use knitting "rice" or "putanka". The most important thing is that the color scheme is respected, then everyone who sees such an attribute will understand that the magic is somewhere nearby.
Gryffindor logo - for the most experienced
A Gryffindor scarf (or any other magical faculty) is the simplest attribute of Hogwarts students. But another important distinguishing mark is the emblem. At the faculty, Gryffindor is Leo. The most experienced needlewomen can knit or embroider such an emblem, and then sew it as an applique according to the scheme proposed below.
Tales should be in the life of every person, because who knows, maybe sooner or later an owl will fly to everyone holding a letter in its beak with an invitation to the World of Magic?
