Many residents of the capital and city visitors are attracted to the Lunarium Museum. There are several similar establishments in Moscow, but the exposition located in the Moscow planetarium is very popular. This is an amazing world of exciting and unusual experiments.
Museum Description
Lunarium is not inferior in its equipment to the best European museums and scientific centers. It occupies two floors in the Moscow planetarium.
Lunarium consists of two departments. The exposition of the interactive museum consists of more than eighty exhibits. They clearly and in a playful way demonstrate various natural phenomena and physical laws. Sometimes the exhibits look funny, but often seem like a real miracle.
"Astronomy and Physics"
This room introduces adults and young visitors to the amazing world of science. Here, each exhibit is a mini-laboratory. You can generate electrical energy, create tornadoes and artificial clouds, compose electronic music, take an exciting ride on an amazing space bike. Most of the exhibits in this room are of great interest to guests of all ages. You can learn about some of them from this article.
"Comprehension of the cosmos"
By visiting this room, you will find yourself on the “space station”, which is divided into thematic compartments. Moving from one to another, you make an interplanetary journey, get acquainted with the fascinating and mysterious history of the big bang of the Universe, visit the lunar laboratory. Guests are given a unique opportunity to get acquainted with the telescopes of various optical systems, send a message to aliens, launch a hydrogen and air rocket, and learn what vacuum and weightlessness are.
Each exhibit of Lunarium in Moscow has a colorful plate on which the necessary information is placed to get acquainted with the presented samples. And if you do not manage to deal with the design yourself, the friendly and friendly consultants who are always in the halls of the museum will come to the rescue. These are students and graduates of Moscow State University, Faculty of Physics.
Popular exhibits of Lunarium in Moscow
There are more than eighty of them. It is impossible to see all of them in one visit. We will present you the most popular of them.
"Ball in a vacuum"
This is one of the very first exhibits that greets guests at the entrance to the museum halls. There is a silver silver balloon in the glass cylinder. Using the pump, which is located nearby, you can pump air out of the cylinder. Pressing the red button at its base will cause air to return. As a result of these manipulations, the ball will expand or contract.
"Solar panels"
High above the ceiling are models of spaceships that are equipped with solar panels, and shelving with mirrors are installed on the floor. With their help, light beams can be directed to space objects and see how they come into motion. The longer you keep the beam of light on the solar panel, the greater the speed of the ships.
Solar panels are actually used on spacecraft - they are a source of energy for communication systems and electrical devices.
"Space Docking"
A pretty entertaining and not too complicated video game. Nevertheless, the townspeople and guests of Moscow love her very much. In Lunarium, the hall with this exhibit is one of the most visited.
A spaceship appears on the monitor, which must dock with the space station. This can be achieved if you move the joysticks very smoothly and carefully, which is not always possible for young and impetuous researchers.
"Black hole"
This exhibit was created to demonstrate the processes that occur in the black holes of space. A glass meter and a half meter is filled with liquid, and two plastic white balls of different sizes float on its surface. There is a handle in front of the bulb on the panel. If you twist it, you can arrange a whirlpool that will tighten both balls.
"Hydrogen rocket"
Bright and impressive museum exhibit. This is a model of a spacecraft. It uses hydrogen peroxide as fuel. The rocket itself is in a glass cylinder that is filled with liquid. Visitors unwind the handle at the base of the cylinder, and electricity begins to be generated. It passes through a liquid between two metal rods. Researchers can see how bubbles of hydrogen and oxygen rise from them. This process is called electrolysis. When the gas chamber is full - and you can see it on the pressure gauge located at the base of the model - you need to click on the "start" button. At this moment you will hear a loud pop and the rocket will rush up.
