Kazan is one of the largest cities in Russia. Its population is more than one million people. The capital of Tatarstan is the most important trade, industrial, sports, cultural, educational and tourist center. It is located in the Volga region, off the banks of the middle reaches of the Volga River. The Kazanka River also flows here. It is a very beautiful, dynamically developing modern city with a rich cultural heritage.
Kazan stations daily receive a huge number of guests and tourists coming not only from all over Russia, but also abroad.
general information
There are two railway stations in Kazan : Kazan-1 (Kazan-Passenger), Kazan-2 (Uprising-Passenger). The first (main) station is located on Railway Station Square. Also in the city there are three bus stations: โCentralโ, โSouthernโ and โEasternโ.
First of all, we will present in more detail the most important transport hub - Kazan-1 railway station.
Description of the railway station
Thousands of people leave and arrive through the Kazan-1 station, and tons of cargo are transported in almost all directions of the territory of the Russian Federation.
The Kazan station is served by 36 pairs of long-distance trains. Thirteen of them are local-built cars. There are also suburban electric trains and rail buses (diesel trains), departing east and west from the dead ends of the respective platforms. There are 15 tracks at the station, several platforms and an uncovered overpass.
In total, more than 8 million passengers are served by the Kazan station over the year (address - Privokzalnaya Square, 1). Its territory is fenced, and the entrance to the station is available only for passengers with tickets and mourners. This is strictly controlled. All types of urban public transport, except the metro, pass through the station square.
A huge network of railway lines stretches across Russia through this station, covering the Central region, South, Volga region, Siberia, the Far East.
A convenient location is the railway station of Kazan. Buses of many city routes run through Railway Station Square. They deliver passengers to various parts of the city without transfers.
Station History
The train station has a very convenient location. It is located in the historical center of Kazan. In just 10 minutes you can walk to the magnificent complex - the Kazan Kremlin - the most important historical attraction of the capital of the Republic of Tatarstan. Of course, there are plans in the Kazan administration to transfer the railway station to another area - to Vorovsky Street, to unload the city center. But this is still in the long-term plans.
The railway station was built in 1893, simultaneously with the laying of the first railway tracks. There is a version that the red station building, which still functions beautifully, was designed by Kazan architect Heinrich Bernardovich Rush. But there is no evidence of this fact, since there is no written evidence.
All Kazan stations have a rather interesting history. After the fire in 1992, only the foundation and walls remained from the red building of the main station. It was restored again, and Kazan again meets its guests in the renovated building. It should be noted that two beautiful marble snow-white leopards guard the entrance to the building itself. Moreover, they are surprisingly graceful and beautiful cats.
Suburban Station
Next to the old red station is the building of the suburban station, renovated in 2005, to the millennium of the city of Kazan. From the old building after the reconstruction, only a mosaic panel, located on one of the walls, has been preserved. It represents an image of a girl in a beautiful national Tatar attire.
Turnstiles are installed in the interior, thanks to which itโs just not possible to go to the platform, only with tickets. By electric trains (suburban), you can travel in the western and eastern directions, including getting to neighboring regions and republics (Chuvashia, Kirov region, Mari El).
Kazan (train station) - Airport (and vice versa) is a relatively new route, along which a convenient, modern high-speed electric train runs.
An airport
Kazan Airport is a modern (international) airport of federal significance. It is located near the village of Stolbishche, 26 kilometers (southeast direction) from the capital. It serves flights throughout Russia, neighboring countries, as well as to the UAE, Turkey, Thailand, Finland, Spain, Greece and other countries. Its passenger flow is about 2 million people a year. Kazan Airport is the first airport in Russia to be awarded the status of 4 stars.
Bus stations
Kazan stations meet all modern requirements for passenger service.
The central bus station of Kazan (Devyatayev St.), located 2.5 km from the central part of the city, was built in 1964. Over the years, the geography of flights has expanded, and the need to create a large number of new routes has grown. The city grew, and it became clear that there was a need to modernize the station.
Today, the Central bus station is a modern complex consisting of three floors. There is a spacious waiting room, conveniently located ticket offices. The building is equipped with all necessary facilities.
The Yuzhny bus station, located on the Orenburg tract (8.5 km from the center), is also the largest in the capital of the Republic of Tatarstan. It was built relatively recently. Already today you can go from here to 44 intercity and regional destinations, mostly to the south (hence the name).
Conclusion
The airport, Kazan stations (both auto and railway) successfully perform their functions and cope well with the numerous passenger traffic. Thanks to their services, a huge number of people comfortably move not only throughout the country, but also get to foreign countries.
