Many Russian language terms have not one, but several meanings at once - as a rule, both direct and figurative. To these, no doubt, can be attributed the word framing. This concept can be used in several contexts at once. Let's see what the word is.
Etymology
Linguists, scientists believe that the noun came from the concept of "frame". And then, in turn, from the well-known to us "frame" - in a professional dialect (carpentry) - with Germanic roots. By this is meant any kind of bond from bars, planks, battens - a quadrangular, oval (possibly another, arbitrary) shape. The work of artisans was used (and is often used to this day) for inserting canvases into it, for decorating something. A figurative meaning: the frame is what surrounds any object, and also - a meaningless concept. For example: 1. The picture hung in a beautiful frame of living, freshly cut flowers. 2. The artist’s fantasies appeared before us in a frame of images clearly drawn on canvas.
Literary studies
In the theory of literature, framing is part of the composition of a work of art. It includes (as if edging) other elements of the narrative. One, several units of the plot - fairy tales, parables with short stories - are combined, included in an independent unit-frame (plot or not). Example: “The Decameron” by Boccaccio or subtitles in Chekhov's short stories.
Psychology and pedagogy
Here, framing is a person’s ability to make decisions, depending on the method of situational presentation. For example, people tend to accept the positive if they are informed that they are waiting for fifty percent success, and negative - if it is said about the fifty percent possibility of an unsuccessful outcome. This is sometimes used to manipulate the consciousness of the masses, their choice of the predicted situation.
Technical terminology
What is a frame for construction? Dictionaries of terms for registration of technical documentation give the following interpretation. These are parts that are intended for decorative decorations of the upper part of a panel board with a frame, the same for a panel or window opening. Also - a photo frame in artistic photography.
In general, the subject matter is ambiguous, like so many. But the main meaning nevertheless is that which surrounds any object or phenomenon, in the literal or figurative sense. And synonyms for the word can be: platband, stroke, border, surroundings, frame, mat, and some others.
