Dining in hotels has a different classification. When describing it, special abbreviations are used that indicate the proposed level of service. For example, the food options BB, FB, HB, AL are most often used, but others are possible. You should be aware that even with the same principles of its organization, the set of dishes in a five-star hotel and a three-star will differ significantly.
So, for example, meals in hotels, the interpretation of which in Russian will mean “bed and breakfast” (BB- Bed and Breakfast) is as follows: in addition to accommodation, you are only offered breakfast. If you want additional food, then this service can be provided for a fee both in hotel restaurants and in other resort restaurants. The decoding of meals in hotels such as CB (continental breakfast), translated into Russian - "continental breakfast", involves an inexpensive light breakfast, which includes a cup of coffee, or tea, rolls, as well as jam and butter. You will also probably be served thin slices of cheese or sausage for breakfast.

If you are offered a Buffet Breakfast, or, as we call it, a buffet that has another popular name - "buffet", then you will be offered several types of salads, pastries, egg dishes for breakfast . And in hotels of high categories for breakfast, even hot dishes can be served. The main thing to remember: in almost all resort hotels, breakfast is included in the price, so you cannot refuse it. Meals of this type are most often provided on sightseeing tours or on business trips, sometimes at ski resorts.
There is food in hotels of the class HB (Half Board), called half board. This option of food involves dinner and breakfast, but without lunch. In this case, breakfast will be provided in the form of a buffet, and dinner - in a buffet or salad bar, which will include hot dishes of your choice from the provided menu. Often drinks are included in the price, but sometimes they can be paid separately. The quality of the food served and its choice can be different in different types of hotels.
There is also a
full board, indicated by the letters FB (respectively - Full Board). According to this option, you will be offered full meals in hotels three times a day. Breakfast, as usual, will be served as a buffet. And dinner with lunch can be served as a buffet or with a choice of dishes from the menu. Sometimes drinks may be included in this price; in some cases, they will be charged separately. Most often, tourists choose half board, as you can dine at any restaurants, while there will be no need to return to the hotel in the middle of the day.
There is also such a power option as AL (All Inclusive) - “all inclusive”, and UAL (Ultra All Inclusive) - ultra “all inclusive”. In this case, you will be offered good nutrition, services of various cafes and bars that can provide snacks throughout the day. Often on the menu there are non-alcoholic, but sometimes alcoholic drinks of a local producer.
Of course, there are other types of food in hotels. But these are the most popular among tourists.
