In August 2016, a typhoon raged in Primorye, which caused damage to many families, flooding their homes and household plots. Roads were destroyed, automobile bridges were washed away, as a result of which some villages were completely cut off from the world.
Flood events in Kavalerovo
The Kavalerovsky district was badly damaged by the elements, where sharply rising water in the river flooded the nearest areas. Due to damage to power lines, some areas were left without electricity. The quality of drinking water also left much to be desired - the overflowing reservoirs did not do their job and the water from the taps of the locals flowed dirty.
Already on the third day of the typhoon more than 50 houses and more than 60 household plots were flooded, including multi-storey buildings! In the Kavalerovo flood, three houses were completely destroyed, which could not even be restored! The destruction was simply catastrophic, which is why the Kavalerovsky district was recognized as the most affected by typhoon Lyonrok.
Rescuers worked under heavy conditions; local residents were evacuated by boat from the roofs of flooded houses and cars, placing them with relatives and in temporary holding centers; eliminated the consequences of rampant disaster; repaired blurry roads and bridges.
In many districts of the Primorsky Territory, including Kavalerovo, flooding and its consequences prevented the holding of such an important holiday for each student - September 1. It had to be moved because of problems with roads, communications and electricity.
Temporary locations
In the village of Vysokogorsk in the Kavalerovsky district, a temporary accommodation center was organized directly in a comprehensive school, and in the suburbs of Kavalerovo, residents were placed in a local recreation center. In some places, a high level of water on the street literally blocked people in their homes, flooding not only the basements, but also the ground floors. Residents simply had to leave their homes.
In temporary places of accommodation there was everything necessary: food, medicines, essentials. Also, people could ask for psychological help at any time, for some it was very necessary. Many residents refused to stay at temporary points and settled with relatives and friends.
The effects of typhoon in other districts of Primorye
But not only in the Kavalerovo flood caused great losses, other areas also suffered greatly from it. So, for example, in Lazovsky district the automobile communication was broken, there was no Internet access. Five residential buildings were flooded, and the road was blurred in several places.
In the Terney region, flooding of cars, baths, sheds, residential buildings with all the property of citizens was also registered. The dirt road in the area was also affected.
In the Ussuri and Dalnegorsky urban districts, as well as in Kavalerovo, the flood did not go unnoticed. Cellars and house adjoining territories were flooded, because of which rescuers had to pump water into tanks and clean storm outlets.
The strongest flood in Kavalerovo (August 2016) will be remembered by the locals for a long time. More than 700 rescuers of the Ministry of Emergencies in all the affected areas of Primorye for several days worked in the "High alert" mode. In total, about 12 thousand people and 2.5 thousand pieces of equipment were involved in the aftermath of the flood. In total, more than 1200 houses and more than 300 house territories were flooded.
