It is at a young age that a person chooses his main path and those areas in which his life will go. At this time, we determine our fate, because life does not provide another such opportunity.
Youth as a social group has its own assessment criteria and characteristics that distinguish it from all other groups in society. At the moment, young people are being analyzed in terms of several criteria: age, psychological and social characteristics. Typically, the last two characteristics are considered together:
- Features of emotional susceptibility.
- The pursuit of risk.
- High degree of mobility and adaptation to existing situations.
- The desire to maximize themselves and their strengths.
- Critical attitude to the older generation and nihilism in relation to modern reality.
- The pursuit of freedom and ideal.
Youth as a social group goes through the socializing stage of development, and also assimilates educational and civic qualities that should prepare it for the fulfillment of "adult" responsibilities.
Note that in domestic social science for a long time it was not considered as a separate social unit. The fact is that it did not fit into the definition of class structure. The definition of the term βyouthβ was first given in 1968 by V. Lisovsky. Then other interpretations created by psychologists and sociologists began to appear.
At the moment, youth as a social group has certain boundaries: the lower one begins at the age of 14, and the upper one ends when a person reaches economic and personal independence.
The youth of Russia, as well as in another state, is characterized by a maximalist attitude to reality and uncompromising life. This is used by all political parties and figures who begin to skillfully manipulate these features, involving youth leaders in their games on the eve of the next election. Of course, modern youth has certain and clear views on events in the country, but politicians do not reckon with them.
Note that modern youth has a number of social problems, which, as it turned out, have nothing to do with state interests. Modern politics regarding this category of people is feasible only on paper.
Youth as a social group is heterogeneous: it is divided by place of residence (rural and urban), social affiliation and attitude to the subculture.
Since the problems of society are dynamic, they are projected on young people. Since they are the most defenseless against environmental conditions, the situation is even more aggravated.
And this applies to almost all spheres of existence. Note that the life of modern youth is compounded by the fact that the state does not pay due attention to young families, they do not receive the necessary support. After all, parents can not always help their children, and the market system has led to the development of such problems.
We also note that a conflict is developing with the older generation, which not only does not help the socialization of youth, but is also a brake on the movement of this process. In particular, the number of conflict situations and manifestations of deviant behavior is increasing.
Also, a decrease in the interest of the younger generation in work is becoming noticeable, because at present it is becoming problematic to satisfy their needs thanks to conscientious work for the good of society.
Therefore, at present, young people as a social group are considered the least protected both politically and socially. And this cannot but affect her perception of reality and behavioral reactions.
