At the end of April 2018, the fourth part of GTA was 10 years old. At one time, it was a turning point for the entire franchise. This happened not only due to the use of a new, more technological engine. The reason for this was that most of the attention of the developers was paid to the plot. It was thanks to him that many haters and critics of the series changed their attitude towards her.
Unlike past games, the authors decided to make the story more serious and realistic, having worked out the characters' characters and their relationships in more detail. However, RockStar would not be themselves if they forgot about humor. So, its main source is the rather satirical cousin of the protagonist - Roman (in the original Roman Bellic).
Acquaintance
You will meet him for the first time at the very beginning of the game. In the story, the protagonist, an immigrant from Serbia, decides to move to the United States, where, as he thinks, he will be accommodated by a rather wealthy cousin with a good house, cars and business, which he described in his letters.
However, leaving the ship, Niko has to wait. And finally, after a few hours, an old taxi appears on the pier. And behind the wheel is the same Roman Bellic from GTA 4.
Biography
The novel is a native of Yugoslavia. In 1998, when he turned 21, he moved to the city of Liberty City, wanting to achieve that same "American dream." In letters to his cousin, he talks about the fact that he has at his disposal luxurious accommodation, 4 bathrooms with a hydromassage function, 15 sports cars, and he meets two girls at once.
In reality, Roman turns out to be the owner of a small taxi fleet called Express Car Service, lives in a small apartment with cockroaches in the local alternative to Brighton Beach. At the same time, Roman Bellic has a girl named Mallory. By the way, you will be asked more than once to help with various questions in terms of courting her.
For example:
- to bring her with a friend on business;
- pick up the ring from the burning house.
Current situation
At the beginning of the plot of the game, you will not only learn that Roman Bellik is poor enough, but also that he has decent debts taken for spending on gambling. One of those who gave him funds is the Russian mafiosi Vladimir Glebov. Among the players, he is known for his immortal joke "Why eat cabbage when there is potato?" However, some time after the protagonist finds out about debts, Vlad does not have long to live.
But this is not about that.

Perhaps the most popular phrase from this game. Even more famous than the joke of Vlad. It was previously mentioned that the developers paid quite a lot of attention to the system of relations between characters in GTA IV. And trips to various institutions with familiar proof of this.
However, the most annoying in this feature of GTA 4 is Roman Bellik. The whole joke is that he often calls at the most inopportune moment. For example, when Nico is on a mission or in the very center of the chase, trying to hide from the police. One YouTube user even dedicated a song to it.
Nevertheless, it is worth noting those places that you would like to go to change the level of relations with your cousin, as well as just have fun:
- A visit to the fast food restaurant Burger Shot will increase Roman sympathy by 7%.
- Drinking drinks in bars. This will help increase the level of sympathy by 5%. Recommended to visit first! The gameplay for a drunkard trying to get to the car to the cries of Roman about what he went over is priceless (as in Red Dead Redemption).
- Visiting a strip club can increase the liking of your cousin Roman Bellic. The change level is 8%
- You can also go play darts. This will raise the bar of sympathy by 4%.
It is worth noting one useful detail. As soon as you increase the level of sympathy to 60%, you will receive a special bonus - the ability to use a free taxi from Roman Taxi Park.
Story events
Throughout the game, Nico will have to save his cousin more than once from those who want to get back the debt or just the enemies of the protagonist. In general, you can simply list each situation.
The very first of them occurs at the very beginning. The main character comes to Roman’s office and gets directly to his showdown with representatives of the Albanian mafia. This time it ends with a small pogrom.
Further, in some circumstances, you meet a girlfriend of a girl, Roman Michel. And here is the first choice. Albanians get to their cousin exactly at the moment when a new friend invites Niko on a date. Now there are two of the following options.
Good cousin
Instead of going to a girl, you go to Roman. Having gone, you find such a picture: the Albanians squeezed your "grief-debtor" on the sports ground. Intervening, the protagonist sends both attackers to a knockout (having thus been trained in hand-to-hand combat) and, together with his cousin, sets off in pursuit of one of the tops of the Albanian mafia. In the end, minus one problem.
Let him understand
When you decide to accept Michelle’s offer, you ignore the call for help and find out that your cousin is in the hospital. As a result, after some time, Nico again receives a call for help. But this time there is no possibility to ignore, and the plot indicated above is repeated.
Now back to the events. Roman Bellik becomes aware that his girlfriend Mallory is secretly dating Vlad Glebov. Embittered by this fact, Nico is cracking down on mafiosi. Which leads to the appearance of paranoia in Roman. Fair enough. Both cousins were abducted a little later by order of the head of the Mafia Faustin, Mikhail Faustin.
As a result, the main character has to perform various tasks of the new boss.

Further, a lot of events take place that can reveal very important plot details. There are, of course, not too serious ones, such as a fire in the first apartment and moving to a new part of the map. But still the ending is an extremely scary spoiler. The only thing worth saying: a very important choice awaits you.
Interesting last
Further, it is worth noting a few interesting details related to this character.
- Over the years of his stay in the United States, Roman quite seriously forgot his native speech. First of all, he himself mentions this. However, in one scene, the following situation occurs. Nico meets a cousin in Serbian. He, in turn, answers: "Um ... What?"
- There is an opinion that the favorite radio station of the novel in the game is The Vibe 98.8. If you turn it on together with your cousin when you travel together, the latter will be very pleased by reacting positively.
- The game has one interesting feature. After each joint walk with Roman, you need to take him back home. And if at the entrance to the destination to put the transport on the marker, the following scene will happen: the passenger door is blocked. In response to this, the cousin will hit the main character, complaining that this is his vehicle, then transfer to the driver's seat. And after sitting there a couple of moments will leave the car.
- If in a friendly meeting you try to get rid of Roman (hit by a car, drown in transport, shoot from a grenade launcher), he will call with a request to pick him up from the hospital.
- In 2012, many publications made the same mistake, calling Roman the brother of the protagonist, not a cousin.
- The name of Roman's taxi fleet is mentioned in the fifth part of the game. The hero who remembered the company calls it the worst taxi service in history.
- Another reference from the new game. In the fifth part of GTA there are hidden hatches under water. One of them emits a Morse code signal. After deciphering it, I managed to get the phrase: "Hey, you never call. Are we going to bowling?" This is a reference to Roman Bellic.
