Peopleβs preferences vary greatly. Some collect stamps, others are addicted to football, while others are immersed in fantasy. And it is about them that we will speak. One of the most popular and frequently encountered races is the orcs. These are colorful people with their traditions, customs and identities ... However, in the computer world, games about orcs are very rare, which cannot but upset their fans.
RPG
Any fan of games built on the basis of fantasy worlds would like to play for their favorite character. And here the most interesting thing comes out - itβs almost impossible to play for the orc. They are regularly found as opponents and "meat", which must be chopped into small crumbs, but it is practically impossible to manage this race independently.
- The Elder Scrolls series of games, best known for parts of Skyrim, Oblivion, and Morrowind, tells the player about selected "people" who have to change the fate of the world. Orcs are one of the races that inhabit this continent, but they are completely devoid of the color that they are usually assigned in fantasy.
- "About people and orcs." You will manage a group of two creatures - an orc and a goblin. They have completely opposite characters, but their common goal is to destroy the emperor of the people who started the bloody war.
These are the first orc games that come to mind when it comes to managing a character directly. In most other projects, this race is not playable and remains only an attribute and entourage of each individual world.
Strategies
But things are a little better in this genre. Still, developers do not need to think through and create the personality of the protagonist to the smallest detail.
- The Warcraft series is dedicated to the confrontation between the two races, like other games about the orcs. The world famous hit, built on a simple principle - dig up gold, build troops and defeat enemies.
- Three parts of Age of Wonders tell of the battle of twelve magicians over a valley full of miraculous energy. One of the races is represented by orcs that protrude on the dark side.
- Warhammer 40,000 tells of the adventures of orcs in an intergalactic war. The original idea took this race from the fantasy world to science fiction.
- "Lord of the Rings". There are many variations and game genres of this work. "Battle for Middle-earth" will allow the player to plunge into the world of Tolkien. You will be able to control both the "classic" orcs, playing for Mordor, and the improved "Uruk-hai" at Isengard.
Unfortunately, more vivid examples are hard to find. Games about orcs on PCs are not popular, and even in the genre of strategies, most players prefer to destroy them rather than control them.
Online
Orcs could get a truly complete and independent life only in MMORPGs. If in the majority of the aforementioned projects this race has so tightly integrated into the cultures of other nations that it has lost its uniqueness, then the Internet has allowed them to become independent again.
- World of Warcraft One of the most popular games on the Internet. Orcs are aliens from another world who were about to conquer Azeroth. However, they did not succeed, and after a series of events described in the offline strategy, they became part of the gaming universe.
- Allods Online is also a continuation of the offline saga. The world, divided into separate islands after the Great Cataclysm, and many different races, united in alliances. Here, the orcs are nomadic warlike tribes fighting simply because this is their only worthy occupation.
- Panzar is another creation of Russian developers. Sessional action in which various fantasy creatures participate. In it, orcs are tanks that must defend their allies.
These are not all orc games. The list can be supplemented and expanded for a very long time, however, you are unlikely to find brighter and more charismatic images than these.
