Domestic breeders have achieved in the development of new varieties of unprecedented heights. This is especially noticeable when you look at the number of species of apple trees and other fruit trees they created.
Take the same “white filling”: these apples are so good that they are the ones most preferred by the most advanced chefs to make their food masterpieces. What else is this variety characterized by? Let's figure it out!
Appearance of apple trees is quite typical: the tree reaches a height of five meters, the crown has a rounded shape. Unlike many varieties common in our country, it begins to bear fruit already in the third or fifth year after planting or inoculation. Note that the tree is specifically designed for growing in the middle lane. The first mention of it appeared a hundred years ago.
This is an early grade! Despite the early maturity, abundant fruiting and other advantages, which are famous for the "white filling", apples should be used for a maximum of ten days after removal. Otherwise, they practically lose their taste and smell, and the flesh becomes loose and crumbly.
Thus, if you do not have the desire or ability to immediately engage in mass processing of fruits immediately after ripening, we highly recommend that you do not set aside the entire garden for “white filling”. These apples are good, but only for speedy fresh consumption or for immediate processing (especially for juices).
The weight of one fruit reaches 200 g. The pulp has a pleasant sweet and sour taste, which refreshes well in the summer heat. By the way, you can start shooting them in August. And here there is one caveat. The fact is that the variety is difficult to attribute to industrial, and therefore the ripening of fruits is extremely uneven. We have to shoot them in several passes at once.
Signs of full ripening are extremely simple to identify. You think why the variety got such an unusual name? The fact is that completely “prepared” apples of the “white filling” acquire almost a snow-white color. Against the background of other greenish-yellowish "relatives" they are perfectly noticeable.
Despite some “fragility” of apples, the apple trees of this variety themselves tolerate even very cold winters. But here it must be borne in mind that for some unknown reason, their bark is especially attractive for hares and mice, and therefore the trunks should be whitened with particular care.
Note that trees of the "white filling" variety, whose apples are so good, are very demanding on growing conditions. They prefer light fertile soils, and the place for planting needs to be very well drained.
If the last rule is not followed and the groundwater is near, the fruit tree of this species will quickly die.
And another important feature, which is often completely forgotten (and often just do not know) by beginning gardeners: the “white filling” apple variety is self-infertile! Simply put, if you plant two such apple trees side by side and provide them for pollination with at least a dozen hives, they will not be able to produce any crop.
Based on this, this variety must be grown next to other cultivated apple trees.
