Vintage is what? Previously, this term was used in winemaking and meant mature, aged wine. But relatively recently, the concept has migrated to the world of fashion. Today, vintage things are understood to mean those that were made long ago, in a different era. They carry her style and mood. They passed the test of time and did not lose their relevance and charm.
Vintage is a special style. Itβs not just lolling things many years ago. They are in perfect condition, many of them are handmade. Now things are especially fashionable in the style of the 1920s: dresses, handbags, hats, jewelry. You can buy them in fashion stores, and in colorful flea markets.
The idea to turn fashion hits of the past years into a new style arose in London in the early 70s of the twentieth century. Industry at that time massively produced fashionable, but the same clothes. Therefore, for the aesthetes and bohemians, the first vintage salon was opened - the legendary Biba. The models sold there were in the style of the 1930s.
Vintage clothes are retro things, wardrobe items (either original or antique stylized.) There should be one vintage accent in the look. This style does not tolerate incontinence and chance. All details must be thoughtful and perfectly matched to each other.
A vintage dress should clearly be associated with the fashion era, be recognizable in style. For example, in the 1920s geometric outfits with a low belt were in fashion, in the 1940s - broad-shouldered tweed jackets, in the 1950s - fluffy bell skirts. Separate trends of those times became classics - shirt dresses, Burberry patterns, etc.
Authentic vintage are things produced no later than 1980. In the West and in the USA they prefer clothes released no earlier than the 1950s. A special trend in the vintage market is film legends. For example, the toilets of fashion icons such as Marilyn Monroe,
Jackie Onassis, Audrey Hepburn,
Marlene Dietrich. Vintage fabrics have a pronounced style of their fashion period. Of these, they sew on authentic old patterns or use very modern styles. All the resulting objects fit well into this style.
Pseudo-screwing is clothing and accessories made from artificially aged materials. It is often quite difficult to distinguish an original thing from a stylized one. Clothing in this style is produced by almost all famous fashion houses, not to mention individually working stylists and tailors.
There is also a combined vintage. Under it is understood clothing, in the manufacture of which modern materials and truly vintage fabrics and accessories were used. In addition, there is a stylization of a-la vintage - these are quite modern collections, in which the ideas of silhouettes, drawings, decoration, decor, and clothing of the past were taken as the basis. Now almost all designers beat this topic. Even in Russia, you can find shoes sewn according to the patterns of the 1870s.
Vintage dresses can be seen on the stars of Hollywood, because they are exclusive and expensive. For example, one of the rare vintage dresses from Dior, created in 1954, Natalie Portman wore in 2012 at the Oscars, which attracted the incredible attention of collectors.
