Nowadays, some new products are constantly appearing on the construction market. In particular, such innovations include SIP panels. This material is of interest not only because of the special design, but also due to its extraordinary properties.
How is the material
All SIP panels are based on two OSB boards (oriented-chip), between which is a layer of high-quality polystyrene foam. In fact, this is the same OSB, but made in the form of a “sandwich”. Some people mistakenly believe that such plates are “close relatives” of particleboard. This is not true. Unlike the latter, they are made not of low-grade production waste, but of specially prepared thin wood chips. In addition, in their manufacture a special synthetic resin is used, which does not emit formaldehyde vapors into the surrounding air.
No matter how implausible it may seem, this material can withstand enormous loads. In particular, manufacturers report that one square meter can withstand a load of up to ten tons! This is approximately the same as if the first floor of the standard "Khrushchev" was made of SIP panels, while the other floors would be made of brick and concrete. As you can see, you will not complain about the fragility of the material.
They are also very durable in deflection. One panel can easily withstand a couple of tons of weight, so the construction of houses from SIP panels involves their use as floors. However, they cannot boast of anything more special in this regard. But the panels have excellent thermal insulation properties and can well absorb medium-intensity street noise. Unlike the same particleboard, they are not at all moisture, and they suffer not so much from mechanical damage.
Where can I use them?
As we already said, house designs from SIP panels are not uncommon. They can be used for the construction of external and supporting walls, ceilings, door and window openings. However, we would like to say that it is not worth doing one floor between the floors. The fact is that they create the effect of a drum, forcing residents on the lower floors to “enjoy” the noise from their upper neighbors. But for attic floors, their use is justified.
A great advantage of
the SIP panel is the fact that the floor of them is laid “clean” without making a draft. You can put linoleum, laminate or parquet directly on it. For walls, the use of such a material is in fact an ideal option. In just a couple of weeks, you can assemble a house and make

.Note that on the basement section of the foundation, it is necessary to fasten the harness to which the first corner panels are bolted . The length of the bolts is at least 20 cm, and it is advisable to use an anchor. Thoroughly fill all the cracks with high-quality mounting foam. The walls from the inside can be finished with drywall, fixing it to the same mounting foam and self-tapping screws. It is not necessary to use additional materials for wall insulation: they can even withstand temperatures of -50 degrees Celsius.
