Almost every home has this measuring device. Conventional mechanical measuring tape. It looks so simple that guessing which one is the best does not occur.
Cheng Dwei, a scientist from China, invented the meter in the sixteenth century and used it to measure land allotments. Actually, such a meter became the “ancestor” of measuring roulette. Today, this device is used not only by repair masters. They also resort to this tool for help when they are going to buy new furniture, curtains. And even more so, you can’t do without it during the construction of a garage, cottage, cottage, etc.
What kind of device is measuring roulette? Smiley question. But still.
It is a tool for measuring large linear objects and for marking work in rooms. The main element of roulette is an elastic tape. The main material from which such tapes are made is steel calibrated in a metric or any other measuring system.
Measuring metal roulettes are a coil placed in a housing on which a steel tape is wound. For its winding, a spring mechanism is provided. On sale you can find roulettes with two types of winding mechanisms:
- with spring return;
- with a mechanically rotating handle that is directly connected to the tape reel.
Measuring tape of the second type is less and less common. It can be credited with confidence in a "dying" form. The former are convenient in that the craftsmen working with them do not waste time twisting them.
Could the Chinese inventor Cheng Dwei suggest that four hundred years after his “grandiose” invention, the main element of the measuring tape would be not a metal tape, but a beam? In current measuring instruments, it is the laser beam that is the “tape” that makes it possible to measure distances between points with high accuracy. In addition, this distance can reach several hundred meters. Of course, tape roulettes are not able to perform such a “feat”.
What is a laser measuring tape? This compact device fits easily in your pocket. He has a processor that reads information, and a display. Information is stored in the memory of the device. At the first need, a specialist working with laser roulette can "recall" the measurements obtained earlier. Working with such an instrument is a pleasure, because measurements are made in seconds. The master puts the roulette in one point, fixes the beam at another point and then reads the necessary information on the monitor.
This calculation process looks like this:
- the device sends impulses to the point necessary for the master;
- sent pulses are beaten from this point;
- pulses are processed by the processor;
- The information received is transmitted through the processor to the device screen.
Laser roulette, despite its accuracy and compactness, remains a rather expensive pleasure, so the majority of masters still have measuring roulette in their valise. GOST for such roulettes also exists, it just regulates everything that allows the master to make high-quality measurements.
