The use of various filters always takes place with a gradual clogging of the material. As a result, there is a need for flushing, regeneration or replacement. The latter option is considered quite a costly upgrade. Experts recommend a more profitable solution - this is a self-cleaning water filter. The bulk material in it is washed from dirt with a strong pressure of water. But flushing devices are only suitable for cleaning from mechanical impurities.
Construction
The self-cleaning filter housing is made of sheet steel and steel profiles. At the bottom of the device there is a funnel designed to collect dust that spills out through mechanical shutters with a counterweight in plastic bags. It is disposed of as household waste.
In the center there are filter candles, which are fixed with mounting studs. Their replacement and installation do not need extra height. This is a huge advantage if the device is located in low production rooms. Also in the center of the filter there is a separation chamber that protects the candles from a variety of air shocks. In addition, it has a compartment for large dusty particles. At the top of the filter are electromagnetic valves and an air duct with nozzles for blowing.
Principle of operation
Most often, a self-cleaning mesh filter is used. In it, water passes through a flask with a net. The fine mesh can delay mechanical inclusion. A large layer of contaminants gradually accumulates on the surface, which interferes with the passage of fluid and reduces the pressure in the system. The easiest way to remove dirt is to remove the net and rinse it under running water. Then it is installed in place, and the device is assembled. Such actions are simple and do not take much time.
Modern systems can get rid of dirt in automatic mode. A special drain valve opens and dirt is washed off the net with water. In order for the flushing to work, it is necessary to install a discharge channel during the installation process. If it is absent, one can proceed as follows: a container is placed under the drain hole of a self-cleaning filter.
Types of devices
The standard version of the mesh-type water treatment devices is a device with manual filter cleaning. But there are different models: some are disassembled, others are washed without disassembling the case. In addition, there are products with manual washing.
- With one hundred percent automatic cleaning. These devices do not require the participation of people to start the washing process. Self-cleaning occurs when the timer or the filler contamination sensor is triggered. A self-cleaning filter with a pressure gauge allows you to set a cleaning schedule with a specific frequency.
- With washing by a semi-automatic method. In this case, human participation is required to start the process. The nature of the cleaning is affected by the design features of the device and filter material.
Automatic and semi-automatic devices are used in heavy load systems. These include pool maintenance systems, water treatment complexes and other facilities with active water consumption.
Mobile device
If we talk about self-cleaning systems, it is impossible not to distinguish a mobile self-cleaning filter. This is a highly efficient device used on non-stationary work sites. Its purpose is to purify air that is contaminated with various dust, welding sprays and other dry pollutants. The self-cleaning cassette filter is cleaned automatically, while the filtering process does not stop.
Classification by case material
Self-washing filters are classified according to the material of the housing:
- Plastic They are made of high or low pressure polypropylene.
- Metal. Such products are bronze, brass, steel and others.
Filter Filler Classification
Such devices filter media can be of the following types:
- Disc porous elements. They are made by compression molding.
- Fine-mesh metal or polymer mesh. This option is often used in household appliances. The fine filter has a mesh with tiny cells. However, they quickly get clogged.
- Bulk material. It forms a porous structure after compaction. In household filters it is rarely used.
Self-cleaning devices can be supplemented with certain equipment. For example, a pressure gauge that allows you to monitor the pressure in the system. Its decrease indicates that the filter element needs to be cleaned. A pressure reducer can also be used to protect the system from water hammer.
Self-cleaning filters have many advantages. They simplify maintenance. The filter element will last as long as possible, and the washing procedure does not require overlapping water.
