How to grow oriental poppy? Planting and cultivation
First choose a place for this plant. Oriental poppy needs intense sunlight. In extreme cases, partial shade will do. It is good if the site will be protected from the wind. It is advisable to fertilize the soil with humus in advance. As you can see in the photo, Oriental poppy is a beautiful flower. It is propagated by seed and division of the bush. Some species can reproduce on their own, due to the involuntary rash of seeds from the boxes. But these random seedlings often do not tolerate winter and can be fragile.
Oriental poppy is best grown from seeds, they should be sown in July or August. The place must be permanent, since this plant is not transplantable. The division of the bush should be carried out in the summer, after the eastern poppy has completed its flowering.

Watering the poppy should be moderate. If drought occurs, watering can be increased, but not excessively. Fertilizing with organic fertilizers is carried out in the same way as in the case with all other perennials. After flowering, it is better to remove the shoots. But do not plant them too close. It is better to mark the place where the poppy is located, so as not to accidentally plant another plant there. Core deep root gives him the opportunity to calmly winter, as well as tolerate drought. The pubescent leaves also help the poppy extract moisture from the atmosphere. But regular watering still makes the bush lush and more aesthetic, and the flowers are larger. If you do not dig up the poppy, it can remain in one place for ten or more years. Cold winters are not a threat to him. But spring floods can provoke rotting of the root. Over time, the bushes become larger. This should be foreseen immediately when planting a poppy: leave between the copies a place from fifty centimeters to one meter. Large and tall flower stalks can be tied to a support so that they are not damaged by a strong wind. Transplantation, as already mentioned, is undesirable.
