Irina Velembovskaya - Soviet writer, author of works in the genre of "female prose". Several of her books were filmed. In addition, each film created by the work of Velembovskaya became a real movie masterpiece. Perhaps the whole point is that the heroines of this writer are close to the audience, because they are ordinary women suffering from loneliness, unsettled life and other life hardships.

early years

Irina Velembovskaya was born on February 24, 1922, in an intelligent family. Until the age of nineteen, she lived in Moscow. According to the writer's recollections, at an early age she mastered the parent library: she read Ostrovsky, Gogol, Pushkin, Turgenev, Chekhov. My father was a lawyer by training, a communist of the first wave. Mother ran a bookstore. Irina Velembovskaya’s childhood was happy. However, in 1938, everything changed.

Father was arrested under article 58. Mother was immediately fired from her job. Irina was no longer able to continue her education: the family was in distress. Ira went to work, and three years later, when the war broke out, she graduated from a nurse's course and volunteered for the front.

War

For several months, Irina Velembovskaya worked in the hospital. She later reflected this period in her novel Marisha Ogonkova. But soon the girl was arrested on ridiculous charges. Until the end of the winter of 1942, Velembovskaya was in the Nizhne-Turinsky prison. Then she worked at one of the plants located in the Urals. She worked for some time at the gold-platinum mine, and at logging. Forest History, Underage, More Expensive than Gold, Larion and Barbara — all these works reflect events from the author’s life.

In 1944, the writer became acquainted with the prototypes of the heroes of her future novel, The Germans. The fate of this work, like its author, is not easy. The first part of the novel was published in the early fifties. The whole work was released only twelve years after the death of Velembovsky - in 2002.

Return to Moscow

In 1946, Irina Velembovskaya returned to her hometown. But the house was practically gone. A communal apartment was made from the parent apartment. Irina was sheltered by a distant relative, she helped with work. First, Velembovskaya worked as a janitor at school, then got a job at a furniture factory. The heroine of today's article worked both in a nursery and in a toy factory. Then she returned to school, but already as an accountant. Irina Velembovskaya entered the literary institute in 1957. She was 35 years old by that time.

Gradually, the works of Velembovskaya began to appear in literary magazines. But the topics that she addressed did not suit censors. Books were published, but "with a creak." Nevertheless, in 1965, a film based on the work of Irina Velembovskaya "Women" was released. This picture was not just a hit. She entered the golden collection of Soviet cinema. And at the end of the seventies, the films “Sweet Woman” and “Young Wife” were created based on the books of Velembovsky.

Film adaptation

The works of Velembovskaya were translated into Polish, German, Hungarian. In the Soviet Union, her name became widely known after the film adaptation of the novel "Women". The film was played by outstanding actresses - Inna Makarova, Nina Sazonova, Galina Yatskina. The film "Sweet Woman" enjoyed great success. The lead singer, Natalia Gundareva, was recognized as the actress of the year. Two years later, Anna Kamenkova, who played the main character in the film based on the novel of the same name "Young Wife," was awarded the same title.

Irina Velembovskaya passed away in 2002. She was buried in the north-west of the capital, in the Golovinsky cemetery.
