WWII
In 1942, the boat went on its first trip. But the Germans put up a special anti-submarine network, and the Narodovolets got confused in it. Since the network was steel, the submariners had to pull out the ship from it for two whole days. Then the boat approached Bornholm. In October, she sent to the bottom an enemy ship called the Jacobus Fritzen. A few days later, the boat launched an attack on the sea ferry and caused him severe damage.
After WWII
After the war was over, the submarine Narodovolets served in the Baltic Fleet. It was disarmed only in 1956, and then it became a training station. In 1989, the government decided that it was necessary to create a special complex dedicated to the heroes-submariners of the Second World War. The Bureau of Marine Technology took up the development of the complex. In the same year, the ship was installed as a memorial museum, because it belonged to the submarines of the Second World War. In 1993, museum exhibits were opened there with the participation of top officials of the Russian state.
Commanders and Campaigns
The very first commander of the ship was Vladimir Semenovich Vorobyov, who commanded since 1928.
Further, for 2 years, the submarine "Narodovolets" was commanded by Mikhail Kuzmich Nazarov. After him, 4 years - Lev Mikhailovich Reisler.
There were 14 commanders in total, the last to be appointed was Yuri Alexandrovich Krylov.
The boat made 4 trips. The first was started in September 1942 and ended in November of the same year.
The second campaign "D-2 Narodovolets" made 2 years later, in October 1944, in the period from 2nd to 30th.
The third campaign was made in mid-December 1944 to the end of December 1945.
The boat made its last military campaign in April 1945; it ended in May 1945.
Excursion
In the first compartment are torpedoes, a pantry, etc. In the second - a radio station. In the third - galley, cabins. In the fourth - the command post, in the fifth - batteries, the sixth - diesel. The seventh is located aft, there are electric motors.
In the museum you can take photos on any gadget, but it is paid. You can leave clothes and personal items in the wardrobe. The passage is narrow, there is not enough space, it is better not to take things or put them in the wardrobe. The museum is suitable for all people who like technology, who are interested in history.
Near the ticket office there is an extension, there are exhibits. An interesting fact is that the Narodovolets submarine was built, and there were no torpedoes for it yet. Therefore, the torpedo tubes were adapters for the use of old torpedoes. When the "Decembrists" were designed, they took into account the safety of the crew: they created a specially designed complex designed to save crew members. The first domestic diesel engines were installed on the boat.
For clarity, in some rooms there are mannequins. You can come on your own, although it is recommended to take an excursion or join a group, since it will be more interesting with a guide.
With the help of the guide you can get acquainted with the submarine, see everything - the device, weapons, learn about the activities of the crew. If you look for what to see in St. Petersburg inexpensively and nearby, then you can come here. A visit is included in some excursions, it costs about 500 rubles.
