The calculation of seniority is based on certain data. The citizen must provide this information to the relevant authorities involved in the registration of the pension.
The length of service for calculating a pension is the duration of a social or work activity. It is calculated in accordance with the established procedure. In this way, state guarantees are realized and compensations are paid, which are provided for by government regulations.
The length of service may include periods during which a citizen for certain reasons could not engage in work activities. This condition occurs if the government considers these reasons to be valid.
Work experience can be of various types. Among its main types are:
- Duration of work in the public service.
- Insurance experience. In this case, we are talking about the total duration of the work during which contributions to the Pension Fund were regularly made.
- Special experience. This concept provides for the appointment of early payments at the end of a certain labor activity.
Today, the minimum length of service is five years. It may include all periods of work provided for in the Federal Law during which pension insurance payments were made. The calculation is carried out regardless of interruptions in it under the employment contract.
Total duration of employment may also include:
- Service in the troops, internal affairs bodies, criminal executive missions and institutions.
- Periods of receiving social benefits in connection with temporary disability.
- Moving in the direction from the state employment service to another location for employment.
- The period of parental care for a child up to 1.5 years.
- Public work time.
- The period of receipt of unemployment benefits.
- The time of serving the sentence in prison.
- Periods of unjustified criminal prosecution of a citizen.
- The time during which the able-bodied person provided care for a disabled child, a disabled person of group 1.
The indicated periods are credited to the length of service in the case when labor activity followed them or immediately after them, during which deductions to the Pension Fund were made.
Study time is not included in the general working activity.
Special work experience is called the time of working or social activity under special conditions. Such conditions include, in particular, harmful production, as well as work in severe climatic zones or areas exposed to radioactive radiation. At the end of the periods of the specified special activity, preferential pensions and long service benefits are assigned .
There is also the concept of a continuous working period for several or one employer.
In accordance with the adopted law of 2007, the calculation of sick leave does not depend on continuous experience. Calculation of payments for temporary inoperability is carried out in accordance with the working (insurance) duration of the activity. Moreover, it depends only on those periods during which insurance payments were made.
When calculating the total length of service, those periods during which a citizen could not perform labor activity are limited. In some cases, the duration of continuous operation is taken into account. If the total period is shorter, then the continuous working period is taken as the basis for the calculation.
It is quite difficult to independently calculate the total length of service - in some cases accuracy up to several days is required.
