Grapes Timur: description

Despite the unusual name, it was the Russian scientists who bred Timur grapes using the breeding method. For this, varieties such as Rapture and Frumoasa Albe were used. This grape variety received all the best from its β€œgrandparents”, and truly earned the place of its favorite variety among the most avid wine growers. Moreover, Timur grapes grow quite well in many climatic conditions, especially in the form of a cover crop.

In principle, it is no secret that for the consumer the most important part of the grape is precisely the bunch. In the described variety, the clusters are of very impressive sizes, weighing from 400 to 600 g. The berries themselves are usually conical in shape with a small sharp tip or clearly oval, and the structure of the berries is moderately loose. In addition, each individual berry of this variety has a rather large size, approximately 3 x 2 cm, and its weight is from 6 to 8 grams.

Color and taste of Timur grapes

It is widely believed that the Timur grape variety boasts only white berries, but this is not so. There is Timur and with pink berries. And on the described white grape variety, you can notice a small brownish or amber β€œtan”.

You can talk about the taste of this grape for a very long time, since it is really amazing. And this is due to its dense crisp structure. The uniqueness of the taste is given by a high level of sugar accumulation and harmonious indicators of acidity, and the light aroma of musk adds its subtle notes.

Bush planting, crop yields

You should not plant Timur grapes next to stronger trees or bushes, since the growth power of this variety is average. One way out of this problem is grafting grapes to a stronger bush. This allows Timur to grow larger and stronger, and most importantly, fruiting will be much better. However, there is a minus in this kind of growing grapes - the fruits ripen somewhat later than on their own roots, about 105-115 days.

If we talk about productivity, then Timur refers to high-yielding and fruitful varieties. On only one shoot, 3 clusters can grow. The shoots themselves are aging very slowly, which means they also continue to bear fruit.

Advantages disadvantages

Another undoubted advantage is the good rooting of cuttings. This means that it will be easier for the winegrower to propagate his favorite variety. The fruits of Timur grapes after planting appear already in the 2nd – 3rd year. In addition, Timur grapes have flowers of both sexes, and therefore the harvest will always be plentiful and stable.

This variety is very resistant to various diseases, especially to gray rot and mildew. Timur is truly resistant, and can tolerate frosts down to -25 Β° C.

The disadvantages of this variety include perhaps the weakness of the trunk and its slow growth. And if the bush is small, it means that there will be fewer shoots than we would like.

When planting this variety, you need to remember that it is moody in relation to the soil in which it is planted. And also you need to more carefully approach the choice of dressing. Otherwise, the fruit can not wait at all. It should not be planted in heavy soil - the fruits, of course, will be, but the taste may not be at all what it should be. The berries, or rather, their skin will be thick and rough, and will be like simple grass, knocking down the sweet taste of the pulp.
