Shrubby cinquefoil - the famous Kuril tea

Decorating your site becomes a favorite pastime for every gardener. Many hours spent searching for ornamental and fruit-bearing plants are crowned with success. And another "resident" appears in the garden, delighting with his appearance. The main parameters by which plants are selected are the duration of flowering, decorativeness and resistance to various diseases.

Be sure to plant a bush of Kul tea, which has another name - shrubby cinquefoil. The plant not only meets all the requirements of the search, but can also be used as a brewing of medicinal tea, increasing the tone of the body. Shrubby cinquefoil has been known for its properties for several centuries. And as tea it is widely used in taiga regions of Siberia and Manchuria, where it grows in large volumes.

Shrub cinquefoil amazes with its endurance. It is resistant to both drought and severe frosts. He loves light very much, although it can grow perfectly in partial shade. With a lack of sunlight, it blooms poorly, but grows foliage. The bush is highly branched and can reach one and a half meters in height. It has a high decorative effect. A reddish-brown or gray bark is combined with green leaves that have a silver tint and golden yellow flowers.

Shrubby cinquefoil grows very quickly. When planting cuttings, already in the second year it will be possible to admire its flowering and fruit formation. The bush begins to bloom in mid-June and delights with its beauty for two months, after which it forms berries - fruits that give the bush a special decorative effect. Each shoot is lignified to the very tip, which helps to survive winter frosts without loss. Flowering and fruit formation occurs annually. To maintain the beautiful appearance of the shrub, decorative pruning should be performed with a frequency of 5 or 6 years.

When planting, the soil mixture should be carefully prepared from a part of sand, two parts of humus and two parts of leafy soil. Shrubby cinquefoil is very demanding on the soil. Be sure to drain the area intended for this plant. A large amount of groundwater can destroy the plant. During the warm season, the cinquefoil needs to be fed several times with mineral fertilizers. If the weather is hot and dry, then you will need to carry out evening spraying, because the plant does not tolerate dry air.

When choosing a plant such as shrubby cinquefoil for your garden, select varieties depending on the weather conditions in your area. If in winter there are severe frosts, then your bush of Kuril tea should be with yellow, golden or white flowers. Residents of the southern regions can plant a potentilla with red, pink or orange flowers. These varieties are less hardy.

Care of the plant will consist in periodic cultivation and removal of weeds, infrequent watering and the formation of the crown of the bush. Bloodroot is very rarely affected by various pests and diseases. Basically, it is sick with "rust." The rapid spread of this disease can destroy most of the bush in a few days. Yellow-brown spots appearing on the leaves creep through the bush very quickly. Turning over such a leaf, one can observe small pads of mushroom spores that are transferred by wind to healthy plants. Do not plant a potentilla next to a pine tree, on which rust mycelium develops in the second half of summer.

Thinking about the location of the bush of Kuril tea on the site, you should consider the size of an adult plant. The cinquefoil looks great in both single and group plantings. Bushes planted on a slope or among stones of various sizes look beautiful. A cinquefoil is well suited for a curb or hedge.
