This perennial is also called the godson. There are many types and varieties of cineraria, some of which are valued for spectacular bright flowers, but silver cineraria, the cultivation of the seeds of which we will discuss later, fell in love with flower growers for the unusual color of the leaves. By the way, because of them, the flower got its name, because the carved leaves of cineraria have a silver hue.

Varieties

There are two most common varieties of cineraria. Both of them have leaves of an unusual color. Silver-snow cineraria is a low herbaceous plant, a perennial that will attract attention to a lawn or flower bed from the beginning of April until the onset of cold weather. It is decorated with large open spaces, for example, lawns, this flower can also be seen in vases, in flowerbeds, the silver color of the leaves beautifully frames the borders. Cineraria of this species require sufficient lighting and nutritious soil for growth and full flowering. Seaside cineraria is also grown for the sake of a beautiful openwork pattern that creates its foliage. This unpretentious grass used in landscaping, like the previous variety, has similar requirements. It is often called silver cineraria, growing from seeds does not require any difficult conditions. Planting seeds can begin in early spring (in a greenhouse), and in April, the grown seedlings are already placed in the open ground. Due to the fact that cineraria does not tolerate cold, it is often used as an annual lawn decoration. But in a warmer climate, the plant easily winters. But not only the growing silver cineraria requires heat, growing from seeds also includes picking a plant. It can be done after the appearance of the first 2 - 4 silver-green leaves. Do not forget that this grass should be fed with minerals.

The unusual color of the foliage contrasts with other shades of the flower bed and sets the plant apart from others. Silver cineraria, growing from seeds of which is not difficult, looks very nice both in small groups with other flowers and in open spaces, where it goes well with fiery red marigolds and other contrasting colors. Also, the plant is used as a frame for individual flower groups, placed on the edges of flower beds, boxes, flowerpots. Taking advantage of the fact that the cineraria is low, it is inserted into compositions for alpine hills, it serves as an element of ornamental flower beds. This decorative grass is also used as a pot plant, growing for home decoration.

Cineraria flowers

Cineraria can be planted with almost any other plants, but it will most fully show its beauty in a lighted area, as it loves sunlight very much. If you can create these simple conditions, then your lawn will be decorated with a silver pattern year-round to attract attention.
