The hearth is a fire, a barbecue and a barbecue on a summer residence

If the dacha is used not only as a garden garden, but also as a resting place, then in the courtyard, of course, it is worth installing a barbecue, a barbecue or at least a simple street hearth-fire. All of these devices can now be purchased at the store ready. However, since they are made of metal, they are not particularly reliable and durable. Therefore, it is still worthwhile to build a more solid brick structure in the suburban area.

How to make a hearth-fire: choosing a place

Sometimes it happens that the owners of a summer cottage have no money, or even just time, to build a large stationary barbecue or barbecue. In this case, it is worthwhile to quickly assemble a small street fire. It can be built, in total, in just a couple of hours.

street hearth

First of all, you should choose a place for such a source. You should not have a fireplace, for example, next to a fence, a wall of a house or tall trees. It’s best to find some kind of flat open area for him. The dimensions of the fireplace should be such that the people sitting around subsequently do not feel discomfort.

How to make a hearth in the country

Under a fire in the ground, you need to dig a small pit (30-40 cm deep). It is best to make it round. In this case, the finished hearth will look spectacular. Around the pit, dig a deeper trench under the walls. Fine crushed stone should be poured on its bottom. The same material should be laid at the bottom of the pit.

Next, the actual walls of the focus are laid out. If the fireplace has a square shape, for this purpose it is worth using high-quality red or chamotte brick. A rubble stone is more suitable for a round hearth . Masonry can be carried out on a solution prepared from high grade cement and sand in a proportion of 1x3. But it is better to use a clay solution with salt or a special mixture to erect the walls of such a design as a hearth in the country. You can buy it at a building materials store.

It is not necessary to make the walls of the focus too high - 30-40 cm is enough. After the sides are ready, and the mortar is completely set, you can begin to fill the bottom with concrete. For strength, it should be reinforced with a metal rod or mesh.

After pouring, the bottom should be located at a depth of about 15 cm from the ground level. In this case, the fire will be much easier to clean. You can even slightly raise its bottom above the surface of the soil. However, this will, of course, have to build much higher walls. Near such a bonfire, it is also good to put benches - regular or semicircular (depending on the shape of the hearth).

Barbecue or barbecue?

A beautifully laid out outdoor fireplace-fire can become a real decoration of a summer cottage. But you must admit that in the courtyards of suburban summer cottages or apartment houses large barbecues or a barbecue made of brick look much more solid.

There is no fundamental difference between the two structures. The main difference is that in the first case, skewers are used for frying meat, and in the second case, a grill.

However, many summer residents today call a barbecue a simpler structure, designed specifically for frying meat on a fire. In this case, a whole complex is considered to be barbecue, in addition to the oven itself of a simple design, including:

  • a table;
  • a sink;
  • sometimes grill and other similar accessories.

Of course, such a large convenient design can be erected only if there are enough funds. As for the actual construction technology, it does not differ much from the method of erecting a conventional barbecue.

Foundation pouring

And barbecue cottage, and barbecue in the event that they are built of brick, should be installed on a solid concrete base. The foundation for these heavy structures should be made slab. Under their base, a pit 40-50 cm deep is dug in the ground. An additional layer of sand is poured onto the bottom. Next, a footing about 5 cm thick is poured. And after it hardens, the formwork and the reinforcing frame are installed. Then the foundation itself is filled. Its surface, as a result, should turn out to be absolutely even and horizontal.

Brazier Erection

After the concrete of the foundation has matured (at least two weeks later), you can begin to assemble the grill itself. Laying should be done with dressing the seams in half-brick. The stone is laid on three walls. They should be located strictly at right angles to each other.

After the walls are raised to a height of about 70-80 cm, one row of bricks needs to be slightly moved deep into the grill. The bottom of the brazier of thick metal will subsequently be laid on the resulting support. Next, two more rows of bricks are laid out - these will be the walls of the brazier. Ahead, above the "empty" place, the masonry is led along steel corners.

In principle, the work on the construction of a kebab oven on this can be completed. Having learned in this way the outdoor barbecue cottage will be quite convenient to use. However, it is still necessary to lay out three of its walls to a height of another 80 cm and cover the resulting structure with a conical or pyramidal tin chimney. The latter can be bent independently or purchased ready-made at the store.

Features of the construction of a barbecue

A brick fireside street of this variety is assembled on the same principle as a barbecue. However, in this case, at a certain distance from two parallel walls of the structure, two more are laid out (to the height of the bottom of the brazier or slightly lower).

Subsequently, sheets of metal are installed between them and the furnace itself. In one of the resulting countertops, a hole is made under the sink. A grill rod is usually additionally suspended above the brazier.

Portable structures

As you can see, laying a barbecue or barbecue , and even more so with such a simple construction as a street hearth-fire, is absolutely simple. Experience stove for the construction of such structures is absolutely not required. The main thing is to do everything without rushing, using a plumb line and a building level.

portable hearth

If the owners of a suburban area do not have enough time for such a simple procedure as the construction of a street standard design, you can also purchase a ready-made portable fireplace. However, in this case, special attention should be paid to the quality of the device.

A hearth is made - whether it is a fireplace, barbecue or barbecue - should be made of sufficiently thick metal. As for the design of the structure, which can be different (often very unusual), in this case everything depends solely on the taste preferences of the owners of the cottage or country house themselves.
