Hats knit quite quickly and require a little yarn. However, for beginners, some stages of work can be difficult.
It is quite simple to choose a pattern for hats with knitting needles , it is much more difficult to correctly reduce the loops on the crown. With too sharp a decrease, the cap comes out shallow. If you reduce fewer loops than required, the shape of the headgear will be elongated.
It is good when designers develop schemes that take into account all the nuances and allow you to easily and quickly knit a hat. After reading the article, you can choose a suitable pattern for knitting hats. Several are presented, some of them are so simple that they allow you to easily calculate the reduction, others have already laid down the principle of reducing loops.
Pattern “Braids” for knitting hats
One of the most beautiful and at the same time quite complex patterns is braids (they are also called aran and tow). The essence of the ornament is that a certain number of loops are interchanged with adjacent loops, and then knit. It turns out very voluminous and attractive canvas.
The photo above shows a children's hat with universal braids. They are great for decorating hats for boys and girls. In addition, you can increase the number of rapports to make a product for an adult.
However, some experience is required to use this beautiful pattern for knitting hats.
Knitting caps with braids
Traditionally, various types of rubber bands are used to design the bottom edge of the cap. In this case, the developers took care of knitters and offered them a gum scheme, from which it will then be easy to go to the main pattern.
Rapport of gum and ornament with braids are the same - they make up 16 loops (P). Therefore, you need to calculate the control sample how many rapports will be in the canvas and get to work:
- Collect the required number of loops.
- Knit according to the scheme A.1 the fabric to a height of at least five centimeters.
- Go to scheme A.2. If the work is carried out with thick yarn, one rapport is enough. Depending on how long the hat is needed, the ornament should be repeated one or two more times.
- Finish knitting hats should be according to scheme A.3. The loops remaining at the end are collected on a strong thread and tightened into a ring.
- At the last stage, you should sew a hat and hide the tails of the threads.
Hats should not be steamed or ironed, as they can lose their shape, become too soft and thin.
Knitting pattern for hats for a girl: jacquard is always in fashion
The next model always looks appropriate and relevant, jacquard ornaments do not go out of fashion and are suitable for absolutely everyone. To create this headgear, you need to prepare material in six shades (one for the background and five as complementary colors).
The procedure for knitting hats:
- Run a control sample, calculate how many loops per 10 cm and dial the required number for the first row.
- Knit an elastic band to a height of five to seven centimeters. Here you can apply absolutely any gum familiar to the skilled worker. Classic 1: 1, 2: 2 (it is used by the designer who developed the model) or voluminous English will do.
- When the gum is finished, it's time to move on to the main pattern.
- At the last stage, reductions are performed in twelve places in the row.
A neat wrong side is a sign of a quality product.
The secret of neat jacquard is in the proper handling of idle threads. If you just leave them on the wrong side, long broaches form. When the product is worn, they are pulled, torn and lead to deformation of the ornament.
Experienced craftswomen twist a non-working thread with a working thread every three to five loops, and then continue to use the working one. Consider an example of knitting a series in which ten loops of light beige yarn (No. 1) and one of dark beige (No. 2) alternate. You should knit the first three loops with yarn No. 1, then knit No. 1 with No. 2 and knit the next three with thread No. 1. After this, weaving is done again and the last four are knitted with thread No. 1. When picking up an idle thread, you should carefully monitor the tension: too weak will result to the fact that a non-working thread will be visible through the jacquard ornament. However, over-tightening the fabric is also not recommended, as it turns out to be uneven.
How to cut top loops
A similar pattern for knitting hats with knitting needles is quite difficult to cut, so the diagram shows a flat section of the canvas. The ornament allows you to decorate the main part of the headdress, and the reduction of the loops on the crown are performed as follows:
- Mark with markers six loops in a row.
- In each front row, one loop is cut before and after the marked ones. Thus, there is a decrease in the number of loops by 12 pcs. Visually, the canvas is divided into six wedges.
- The last 20-25 are collected on a strong thread and pulled into a ring.
After stitching, the hat is ready.
Simple Beginner Hat
The photo below shows the simplest model of caps that you can think of.
This headpiece is a rectangle pulled on the crown with a strong thread.
Description of work:
- Using the control sample made in advance, calculate the number of loops for the first row.
- Type on the knitting needles the number of elements.
- To knit according to the scheme, which is located in the lower left corner of the photo, the canvas is 10 cm high. In this pattern, the same set of elements as an elastic band 1: 1. Only these loops are knitted with an offset: the first row starts with the front P, the second (back row) also with the front, the third (front row) with the wrong P and the fourth (wrong) with the wrong P. Thus, this pattern for the knitting cap for children repeated through each four rows. Rapport includes only two loops.
- When the pattern is finished, you should go to hosiery.
The finished hat is pulled together and sewn together.
For children's products, you should select a material that contains a maximum of natural fibers, but does not prick. Optimum composition: 100% merino wool. If you suspect that the hat will be hot, you can use merino with cotton or with bamboo. You should not buy yarn with acrylic, as this synthetic material does not heat at all, but contributes to increased sweating.
It should be noted that almost any pattern for caps with knitting needles will look great, being knitted from a tightly twisted thread.
