It turns out that until the end of the 19th century no one knew anything about men's underpants (especially family ones). Only at the turn of the XIX and XX centuries, representatives of the nobility began to appear in places of rest, on beaches and resorts, in vestments that resemble this garment to some extent. At that time, cowards served as bathing suits.
A year around 1920, in one of the fashionable English magazines appeared the image of the first men's underpants. After some time, they came up with a codpiece, or fly. Most men did not really like this wardrobe item. But the invention of codpiece did not go unnoticed. The width appeared first on the underpants, and then on the upper trousers.
Finally, the Soviet era begins. In 1930, the whole country became a continuous stadium. In each newsreel they show vigorous and energetic athletes. At May Day parades, not only in Moscow, in front of the government platform, but also across the country, columns of youth and schoolchildren go out. They are all dressed in shorts and T-shirts and march bravo to the sounds of a sports march.
As a result, underpants and T-shirts become a symbol of real men, their popularity is growing.
The younger generation chooses sportswear. Men imitate sports idols, so underpants are becoming less and less popular and are replaced by underpants. Advanced citizens proudly began to enter the kitchens of
communal apartments in such sportswear, shocking their not-so-young neighbors.
Mass production of shorts begins around the fifties, when physical education and sport become a cult in the country. They were exclusively black or dark blue products, having a length of half a meter and a width of the bottom of one leg in sixty-five centimeters.
Such clothes were inexpensive, suitable for every member of the family, starting from the youngest son and ending with the father of the family. She washed well, quickly dried up, so all the boys ran through the yards in the summer only in wide shorts, which were called parachutes.
They were not ashamed to sit down at the dinner table with their family or sit in the yard with friends, fighting board sports such as dominoes or checkers. Family underpants have become universal home clothes.
Each self-respecting mother of the family knew how to sew clothes. Girls in labor lessons were taught this even in elementary grades. Together with aprons and skirts, in their textbook was a pattern of family underpants. By tradition, cheap fabric for dresses was bought a few meters long. Then they sewed updates for everyone from it. Dressing gowns and sundresses - for girls and women, and family underpants - for men and boys.
The things sewn by hand were bright and colorful. They differed from the black and blue satin "seeds" bought in the store, and over time became more preferable. Therefore, industrial production closer to the seventies begins to produce family pants for men not only from satin, but from other types of fabrics, and in various colors and patterns.
