Many rich people of our time, in order to emphasize their status, want to get some kind of large exotic feline beast so that the cheetah or cougar can be spotted by the fireplace, so that you can walk them on a leash, causing fear to passers-by. But, unfortunately, in real cougars, lions and tigers, the character is not the one to coexist peacefully in a person’s house, even if hens don’t peck at the money. It is only in the circus that they jump through the ring and carry out different commands. Bonsons tried to keep servals at home - after all, these predators are smaller. But the sullen and unsociable character of this African animal nullifies all the joy of communication. The way out was found in 1986, when an American breeder Judy Frank managed to get offspring from a male serval and a short-haired domestic cat of oriental breed.
Breeding difficulties

The first generation is actually a hybrid of a serval and a domestic cat, reaches 60 cm at the withers, and such an animal weighs more than 15 kg. They are affectionate, loyal, eat the usual pet food, get along well with households, dogs and relatives, playful and quite social. But difficulties arose in breeding them: the males of the savannah were barren until the fourth generation. Therefore, females of this breed were crossed with cats (Egyptian Mau, short-haired oriental or bengal, and also, with mongrel to strengthen health). The offspring from such marriages were noticeably “smaller” - after all, the blood of the serval was diluted. Hence the difference in price for kittens: from
one to 10 thousand US dollars.

Today, the most expensive cat breed in the world is the savannah. Price per baby depends on generation and gender. Girls are much more valuable than boys, who, as we recall, are infertile up to the fourth knee. A direct hybrid of the serval - very large cats, in the veins of which 53% of the blood of the African father flows, are most highly valued. They are called the Savannah F1. Those who have a serval as a grandfather (25%) are characterized as F2. Next come F3, 4 and 5. These last breeders are again crossed with a natural serval. The mating process, pregnancy and childbirth are fraught with great difficulties, because the African predator is three times the size of a pet.

Character
Savannah cats F1 friendliness, sociability and complaisance took from the mother. But also from their father they got no less valuable qualities. Experts say that representatives of this breed are extremely intelligent. They are easily trained, trained in teams and generally behave like dogs. By the way, if there is a cat and a dog in your house, the savannah will prefer the company of the latter. These animals adore leash walks and swimming in ponds. They are always full of energy and love to jump and frolic.
