The concept of power. Types and Functions

The concept of power is firmly entrenched in public consciousness. She is regarded as the main force that ensures the regulation of various processes and relationships in groups of different sizes. Thanks to the presence of power structures, society maintains integrity and unity.

Power Definitions

Different branches of knowledge define the concept of power in different ways, which proves the complexity and ambiguity of the content of this term. Some see power as a tool that allows you to control someone or something (a person or a state), while others speak of it as an exclusive right to govern a country. The behavioral direction of psychology looks at the concept of power as a special type of behavior in which one allows the other to rule over itself. Teleology interprets the concept of power very broadly, speaking not only about its manifestation in relations between people or in the structure of the state. The teleological concepts of power also affect the sphere of human interaction with the outside world (human power over nature).
