Hygiene Museum. Bad habits - no!

The Natural Hygiene Museum, created in 1919 in St. Petersburg, was founded with the aim of educating the public. At that time, ordinary people in Russia, not related to medicine, were far from fully aware of the necessary measures of human hygiene, non-observance of which can lead to various diseases. Today, its exhibits also serve the noble purpose of promoting a healthy lifestyle. After all, can it be easier to explain to a person the harmful effects of bad habits on the body than with a good example?

These illustrative examples in the form of exhibits of various images and variations were gathered under the roof of the Hygiene Museum. St. Petersburg has always been famous for its progressiveness, ahead of time. This museum is yet another proof of this. After all, his exhibits of a hundred years ago, which belonged to or were developed by famous medical scientists and doctors of that time, amaze the imagination of modern man so much that many of them give up any bad habits after visiting this institution.

Most of the exhibits that the Hygiene Museum offers visitors are devoted to the prevention of various diseases and personal hygiene . It is especially important to bring this information to the younger generation, which is why the museum has been a must-see place for schoolchildren and students for many years. School tours are conducted almost daily, but there are also plenty of adults who want to visit this place.

Many exhibits can scare not only children, but also women and men. For example, a dental chair and the β€œforgotten” devices next to it a century ago look so frightening that they automatically instill a good habit of brushing your teeth twice a day.

But among the exhibits, which, as a rule, cause not very pleasant associations, there are those that make you smile. For example, plasticine worms on tooth models or human teeth with sad eyes built in.

It is much more interesting not only to visit the Hygiene Museum, but also to listen to an experienced doctor-guide who knows everything not only about the exhibits, but also most of the diseases that depict them. You can book a tour by phone. For groups of up to five people, it will cost only 400 rubles. Its duration is exactly an hour. But if you want to independently familiarize yourself with the exhibits of the museum, you can visit it on any weekday from 10.00 to 18.00. On Saturday, the Hygiene Museum opens an hour later, and on Sunday is closed at the weekend. The cost of tickets for adults (without a guide) is 80 rubles, a children's ticket is 50 rubles.

It should be noted that the Hygiene Museum (St. Petersburg) is not the only one of its kind. A similar museum was created in 1927-1930. in Dresden (Germany). It also exists to this day and offers its visitors a permanent thematic exhibition "Man - Body - Health". Other specialized exhibitions on current topics from the field of human science are also held there from time to time.
