How to sow tomatoes?

A lot has already been written and told about how to plant tomatoes correctly. But this topic is so important that every gardener is simply obliged to know. The fact is that tomatoes are a very valuable food culture that can β€œboast” of its dietary and beneficial nutritional properties. Therefore, in order to remove a good tomato crop at the end of summer, you need to start with the main thing. Namely - from the choice of seeds, growing seedlings, choosing a place for planting it, etc.

So, let's talk about how to plant tomatoes correctly. First you need to choose the seeds to plant. It is advisable to take seeds of zoned varieties, that is, those that are most suitable for growing in a given climatic zone. But seeds intended for growing immediately in the open ground, planted first in the greenhouse, and then in the ground and in reverse order, is not allowed.

The selected seeds should first be thoroughly warmed up by spreading them on the windowsill. After heating the seeds should be sorted. That is, empty seeds are separated from healthy ones. It is worth noting that empty seeds β€œby eye” are very difficult to determine. Therefore, all seeds are simply lowered into a container with slightly salted water. After a while, empty seeds will begin to emerge, and healthy and suitable for planting will fall to the bottom.

Selected healthy seeds should be sorted again, washed with salt in clean water and lowered into a weak potassium permanganate solution for about 15-20 minutes to disinfect possible pests. After the disinfection procedure, the seeds are washed again and soaked in warm water for 11 hours.

I must say that based on in which region of the country a person who dreams of growing tomatoes lives, you will have to choose the time of sowing. For example, how to sow tomatoes correctly in central Russia? Usually, for this region, seed planting is performed from March 1 to March 25. This term has been chosen for good reason. The fact is that seedlings are grown for about 50-60 days, so if you listen to how to plant tomatoes correctly, then you can plant adult seedlings in late May - early June.

If the grown seedlings are not dived, then it will grow healthier. How to sow tomatoes, or rather their seeds in this case? Yes, very simple. Simply select them and drop them into pre-prepared pots or glasses. They must be filled with earth, in which to make 2 holes no more than a centimeter deep. In each of these dimples, one seed must be planted. When the first shoots appear, the weaker germ should be removed.

Pots, with seeds planted in them, must be placed in a well-lit place. After about 6-10 days, the first seedlings will begin to appear. So that young seedlings do not stretch, the temperature at the beginning of cultivation should not exceed +20 degrees. After the emergence of sprouts, watering should be approximately 1/2 of the capacity in which seedlings are grown. When 2-3 leaves appear on the sprouts, watering can be increased by another 1/2 capacity.

Seedlings must be fed. And it is recommended to do this at least every 10-12 days. To make it less sensitive to temperature extremes, it is necessary to harden it. This process is carried out at a temperature of +10 degrees and above.

How to sow tomatoes, or rather seedlings on the site? After 9-11 full-fledged leaves appear on seedlings, it can begin to be planted in the ground. Needless to say, you can not plant seedlings during the frost period, so as not to ruin it.

In addition, if you "miss" the time of planting seedlings in the ground and it simply outgrows, then you can not expect a good harvest from it. Therefore, if flowers have already appeared on it in order to get a more or less good crop, they will have to be removed.
