In Russian folk tales, the main characters are often helped by animals that have unusual and even magical qualities. This indicates the close connection of our ancestors with nature, faith in its power and justice. A vivid example is the tale of the magic horse Sivka-burka. A simple at first glance plot about how the thing's trigger appears in the life of the protagonist and changes it for the better. It reveals the deep meaning of human interaction with the forces of nature and gives an idea of the knowledge of the structure of the universe that the Slavs possessed. To better understand our ancestors and understand their ideas, for a start it is worth recalling a fairy tale.
Summary: “Sivka-burka, thing trigger”
The tale has several scenarios. Recall the two most famous.
One peasant had three sons. The elders were cunning and prudent, so the good and disinterested younger brother Ivan was considered stupid. He got a black job, and the resting place is not the best - behind the stove. One day, a father called his sons to him and informed him that it was time for him to die. The only death request of the parent was that for three nights in turn, each of the sons came to his grave and bring bread. The older brothers were scared, so they cheated and shifted the frightening duty to the younger one. Three nights after the death of his father, Ivan carried bread to the grave of the deceased, thus fulfilling his request. For courage and obedience, he was rewarded. Father rose from the grave and told Ivan magic words with which he can call for the help of the magic horse: "Sivka-burka, thingy trigger, stand in front of me like a leaf in front of grass!"
In another version of the tale, a peasant asks his sons to find someone who tramples a wheat field at night. The elders relate to the assignment through the sleeves. Only the youngest son manages to catch the night troublemaker. It turned out to be a magic horse. In exchange for freedom, the thing trigger tells the protagonist magic words.
Happy denouement
The further plot is the same. The king decides to marry his only daughter, but the beautiful princess sets the condition. She agrees to become the wife of a young man who can jump on her horse to the window in her high tower and kiss her mouth with sugar. Many young people tried to achieve their cherished goal, but only crippled. The main character also decided to try his luck. Despite many obstacles and ridicule of the brothers, Ivanushka manages to prove her boldness. The proprietary drill helps him to fulfill the condition and win the princess’s heart. Half the kingdom in addition is also a good reward for work and patience.
The main character
As in many other tales, the main character named Ivan was the third and youngest son in the family. The role of the main acting character is assigned to him not by accident, because, as is customary, it was with his youngest son that his parents lived their life. Consequently, together with an equal share of the inheritance, he received all the hardships of caring for the elderly. But, as often happens, the youngest was deceived, and he only got problems. In fairy tales, the intervention of magical powers helped to triumph justice, and everyone got what they deserved.
Magic horse
Listening to fairy tales, children learned to appreciate truly valuable human qualities; kindness, love for others, courage, selflessness, generosity and honesty. After all, it was for them that the universe in the face of such magical animals as the horse Sivka-burka, the thing's trigger, rewarded the heroes. The fact that the horse is magic, says his name, consisting of the name of three stripes; Sivaya, brown and kaura. This combination is no coincidence. Our ancestors believed in the unity and interaction of the three worlds. Rule is the heavenly, divine world of light. Reality is our material world. Nav is the dark world of spirits. Kaura suit (reddish tint), symbolizing the sun, corresponds to the world of Law. Brown color (brown tones) indicates the earthly world of Reveal. The green suit (gray or silver color) is similar to moonlight and symbolizes the world of Navi. The word "prophetic" in the name of the horse Sivka-burka - material fur - also indicates its supernatural origin. It means possessing secret, magical knowledge.
Thus, in an allegorical form, the tale tells the story that people living in conscience are favored by three worlds. Which make up one universe, obeying the general law of justice.
