The word "topiary", originally used to denote the art of trimming the crown of trees, today is more often used as the name of original souvenirs that are given for happiness with wishes of financial prosperity. They are made of different materials, giving, as a rule, the shape of a ball. For example, you can make a beautiful topiary of foamiran with your own hands. This material easily turns into delicate flower petals, so it is often used to create interior decoration items.
Do-it-yourself simple topiary from foamiran: master class (what you need)
As a first experience in the manufacture of such a souvenir, you can offer a fairly simple option, without using heat treatment of the petals, for which you will need:
- Foam base. For example, you can use a small ball. Other figures from the same material (star, heart, etc.) will also suit.
- Foamiran of several colors.
- Pins with a bead hat or tailor pins with a “pearl” head.
- Puncher flower shape, preferably larger (more than 1.5 cm).
- Beads, sequins and / or beads for the manufacture of flower cores.
- Acrylic paint for the barrel.
- A bucket or a pot.
- Pebbles and gypsum.
- A straight tree branch without knots for making a trunk.
- Wire.
- Glue gun.
- Multi-colored sisal.
- Clay "Moment".
The procedure for the manufacture of "flower ball"
To make a topiary of foamiran (the master class is presented below), you first need to do some flowers. They need to be made in large quantities using a hole punch. The result should be the same number of flowers, for example, light green and pale yellow. Followed by:
- put on a pin sequin-core;
- pierce with its point the centers of yellow and light green flowers;
- stick the pin into the foam;
- continue to collect flowers and fix them on the ball until it is covered by them all, except for a small area on the base;
- slightly bend the petals down to give them more naturalness.
How to make a trunk and set a tree in a pot
Before continuing to make topiary from foamiran, you should remove the bark from the branch and leave it to dry for a couple of days. Then:
- paint it with acrylic paint;
- wait until it dries;
- sharpen one end;
- make a small hole in the ball;
- insert there the pointed end of the branch, having previously coated it with any suitable glue (for example, “Moment”);
- put pebbles in a pot with a suitable decor or painted with acrylic paint in the desired color;
- at the end of the topiary trunk, fasten a thick wire and make a large loop;
- insert the tree into the pot and add pebbles so that they tightly squeeze its skeleton;
- in a separate bowl mix construction gypsum, gradually adding water, until you get a composition that resembles sour cream in density;
- quickly fill it with stones in the pot and align the trunk strictly upright;
- hold the tree until the gypsum dries (usually about 10 minutes);
- leave the topiary to dry for 3 hours, so that moisture finally evaporates from the gypsum;
- from floristic sisal to roll balls-glomeruli;
- stick them on the surface of the gypsum using hot glue.
Delicate option in a tea cup
A miniature topiary made of roses from foamiran will decorate a dressing table or will be a good gift for a friend or colleague whom you want to make pleasant.
To make it, one should learn to “collect” such blossoming flowers, as in the photo below, and their buds. At first glance, this task may seem difficult, but in fact, anyone who can show a little patience can cope with it.
To create a souvenir you will need:
- an old tea cup and saucer, preferably quite large and deep;
- foamiran of different colors;
- glue gun;
- some foil or small foam balls;
- wire (thick for the trunk and thin for the flowers);
- gypsum plaster;
- small pebbles;
- ribbons and other decorations;
- small foam ball.
Pink topiary from flowers from foamiran: manufacturing procedure
To start creating a flower, you need a pattern. If you don’t have ready at hand, you can draw two petals on a thick cardboard yourself: one in the shape of a droplet, the second - larger and wider. For one rose, you need to cut out 7 large petals and 5 small ones from foamiran. Then:
- take a small foam ball and stick a piece of wire with a small loop into it;
- pull the end to get a kind of "lollipop-lollipop";
- tightly wrap the ball with a small petal, after applying a drop of glue at the base;
- repeat the same steps with all other parts of the same size;
- petals are applied for a couple of seconds to a hot iron;
- give them a convex shape, "pulling" on the thumb;
- stick to the workpiece;
- from green foamiran, a substrate is cut out in the form of 4 leaves with cloves connected crosswise;
- pierce it in the center and put it on a wire;
- in the same way make the right amount of roses.
Assembly
If you want to install pink foamiran topiary in a tea cup, then you should glue the saucer to it with some reliable glue intended for glass and ceramics.
While the dishes will dry, you can start assembling the "crown" of the tree. To do this, wire cuttings of roses are inserted into the foam ball , trying to do this as tightly as possible. If the foam is still visible, then leaves are cut from the green foamiran and glued between the flowers.
Cup installation
A miniature foamiran topiary will look better on a gracefully curved barrel made of very thick wire. If you cannot find the option of the desired color, then you can take a satin ribbon and make a winding, smearing it with glue. Further:
- at the end of the wire make a large loop;
- small flat pebbles are put in the cup, which should ensure the stability of the structure;
- insert the topiary trunk;
- pour in a gypsum mixture of the density of sour cream;
- not allowing the base to dry, they walled multi-colored glass balls into it;
- if necessary, tint gypsum with a thin brush;
- decorate with bows, etc.
You can attach a small greeting card with wishes to the topiary, made as a gift. Another option is to write on the base cup the name of the person to whom the gift was intended, or draw a heart on it.
