Free places in Moscow: museums, parks, events, entertainment

In the modern world, everything depends on money. And far from all and not always have the opportunity to often go out for fun, visit various centers, cinema, exhibitions and other events. However, in such large cities as, for example, Moscow, there are also very many free places to visit. We talk about how to have a good rest in the capital and not empty your wallet.

"Museon" - art park

Located on Krymsky Val, near the Park Kultury metro station, the open-air museum Muzeon is a great place for art lovers.

Art Park "Museon"

What just does not take place on its territory - and all kinds of biennials, and exhibitions, and poetry, and lectures by famous artists, and even film screenings - you won’t list everything. Of course, there are occasionally paid events, but basically you can do without money. Every day from eight to twenty-three hours (one hour less in the cold season) this free place in Moscow is waiting for its visitors.

Courtyard of the Museum of Modern Art

Unfortunately, the Museum of Modern Art, which is on Petrovka, “for the idea” does not work - to go inside, you have to fork out. However, it’s completely free and unhindered to get into the courtyard of this building - but there is something to see, believe me. In the courtyard of the museum are sculptures and monuments, among which it is easy to recognize such famous personalities as Vladimir Vysotsky and Joseph Brodsky, for example.

Courtyard of the Museum of Modern Art

And there you can meet with your favorite characters from the movie "Mimino" - a monument to them is also erected in the courtyard of the aforementioned museum. And this is not all the work available there - you can list everything in detail for a very long time, it is much better to come and see everything with your own eyes. Of course, a lot of sculptures (but not all) presented in the courtyard are the work of the director of the Museum of Modern Art, that is, Zurab Tsereteli. From time to time, compositions change - something from the yard moves to the sculptor's workshop, something, on the contrary, is installed in the yard. Thus, this is one of the great free places in Moscow for walking - you can wander here once a quarter and enjoy new songs. And walked, and joined the high!

Rudomino Library

The library is good in that you can read books in it absolutely free, but in this case we mention it in our review of free places in Moscow for no reason. The thing is that in this treasury of foreign literature there is an extensive audio and video material, which is absolutely free and with pleasure shared with those who wish.

Rudomino Library

Arriving at the library on Nikoloyamskaya (Kitay Gorod metro station or Taganskaya metro station), you can listen to the delightful recordings of Bernard Shaw, John F. Kennedy, Edith Piaf and so on. In addition, free exhibitions and concerts are often held in the library building, and there are also several cultural centers that regularly hold interesting lectures and other events related to the traditions and events of a country. Admission is always free.

Center "Factory"

The center of creative industries under the uncomplicated name “Factory” is successfully operating in Perevedenovsky Lane, and it definitely refers to those places in Moscow where you can go for free. The thing is that under one roof of this center, which is, in fact, a cultural space, there are many different organizations - theater workshops, and exhibition halls, and film and music structures. And therefore, various free events take place here one after another. This is some kind of performance, then an art exhibition, then a film screening or a concert. In a word, having glanced here, you can always get to something such, interesting.

Mausoleum

This place, of course, is not that modern and creative, but free and historical - that's for sure. And therefore, it is perfect for walking, for example, with a child, to go there along the road and at the same time tell your child who Vladimir Ilyich Lenin was and for what merits he is shown to all comers many decades after his death. The address of the Mausoleum is not even known to residents of the capital - Red Square.

Cathedral of Christ the Savior

If we already started talking about historical places, then we cannot but mention the Cathedral of Christ the Savior, located on Volkhonka. If you want to breathe the air of history and art at the same time and think which museum in Moscow to visit for free, the Cathedral of Christ the Savior is your option. This is, firstly, the country's most famous Orthodox church. Secondly, the largest. Thirdly, if not the most beautiful, then one of the most - certainly: a third of the space painted inside the temple is covered with gold leaf. Finally, the history of its construction is interesting and unusual. In general, whatever one may say, you should go there at least once. In addition, the entrance, we repeat, is free (though, if you need an excursion, you will have to part with your hard-earned money).

GUM

Of course, shopping is usually hard to call free, but the country's main department store can certainly be considered an exception to this rule. The thing is that it is in GUM that often interesting and completely exhibition-free exhibitions are held.

GUM in Moscow

There, for example, Olympic torches and food of astronauts were exhibited, Porsche cars and an exhibition of Rodin's work were demonstrated. Whenever you go to the GUM, there is almost always something to see, without spending a dime. So GUM can apply for leadership in the list of the most unusual free places in Moscow quite calmly.

Water museum

In Sarinsky passage there is a very interesting and at the same time free place in Moscow - the Water Museum. The idea of its creation belongs to Mosgorvodokanal, and it was made so that anyone can get acquainted with the quality of the water that he drinks, see the water purification technology, find out what water was before - a year, five, ten years ago (all this is presented in the relevant graphs and charts).

Water museum

It is also interesting that before the building of the current museum housed the Main Pumping Station, so to some extent the structure can be called historical. Such an excursion will be very useful for both adults and children.

Club "Propaganda"

Free events in Moscow have been taking place in Bolshoi Zlatoustinsky Lane for many years now - at the Propaganda or Propka club, as it is affectionately called. In the daytime, “Propka” works like a cafe, so you can’t count on a free visit, but closer to midnight the institution turns into a fun club with discos, parties and other events that are scheduled here all week in advance. Entrance to the club is free, the only difficulty is to be able to pass face control.

"Bad apartment"

The existence of this place is known to all fans of Mikhail Bulgakov’s work, and in particular his immortal novel “The Master and Margarita,” but not everyone knows that, according to the order of the capital’s culture department, every third Sunday of the month the doors of the “Bad Apartment” are open to everyone , Free admission. "Bad apartment" is a museum, theater and cafe (eating in a cafe without money will not work even on days of free visits).

Bad apartment

By the way, children up to seven years old can go to this place for free at any time (although it is unlikely that this is suitable for their age), full-time students, pensioners and schoolchildren of the capital. It’s just that the last in the “Bad Apartment” will be both fun and interesting, and therefore - why is this not free entertainment for children in Moscow?

Design factory "Flacon"

A lot of free events in Moscow take place on the territory of the former crystal glass factory, and now - the Flacon cultural space on Bolshaya Novodmitrovskaya. Exhibitions and master classes, lectures and concerts, public readings and fairs - which are not available on this site! The visit is free for all comers.

Walks in the parks

Do not forget about walks in the fresh air! Fortunately, there is enough green space in the capital. To the beautiful parks of Moscow for walking can be attributed very, very many. Let’s talk about at least some of them.

For example, Catherine Park is small but very picturesque. It got its name in the nineteenth century thanks to the institute of the same name located on its territory. There is a pond where in the summer people go boating, and in the winter they go ice skating. A restaurant is located near the pond, and a little further there is a pavilion that has been preserved since the time of Catherine the Great. They say that the empress was very fond of being in it. The park is located on Bolshaya Ekaterininskaya - it is near the Dostoevskaya metro station.

An interesting and most beautiful park is Neskuchny Sad, which received its name from the Neskuchny estate. It has everything: quiet walkways, and sports fields, and a kids club with performances and master classes for kids, and a cafe, and a rope park. And in the depths of the garden stands the Hunting Lodge - it is where the games of the club “What? Where? When?". You can find Neskuchny Sad on Leninsky Prospekt.

Sokolniki Park"

Another park that I want to talk about is Sokolniki near the metro station of the same name. Perhaps this is one of the most popular parks in the capital. The wonderful “Lilac Garden” will not leave anyone indifferent in the summer, the alleys and paths of the park will lead you to its quietest places. But at other times of the year in Sokolniki there is something to do. Dance veranda, bike paths, several clubs (dog breeders, checkers, calligraphic and so on), a few amazingly beautiful ponds, which are so nice to sit near (or you can ride on boats and lie on a sun lounger). It was in Sokolniki that the Ornithary was located - one for the whole country. And there are so many entertainments for children! .. In general, it’s better to just come to Sokolniki and see everything with your own eyes.

The corner of peace and quiet in bustling Moscow is Tsaritsyno Park-Reserve, on the territory of which there are palaces that never became the residence of Russian rulers. Catherine the Great ordered the park to be laid down, but it took so long to build (the empress did not like the first palace, and everyone remade it) that Catherine did not have time to live in Tsaritsyno — she died earlier. Her heirs did not become involved in this place, and therefore the park did not happen to become the royal court. However, the palace has been preserved to this day, the territory of the park is huge, and people from all over Moscow come for a walk here. A musical fountain, a greenhouse complex, classical music concerts, exhibitions for children and adults are just a few that, in addition to the amazing beauty around, can be found in Tsaritsyno. To get to the reserve, you need to come to Dolskaya street.

This is information about free places in Moscow. Have a good rest and full wallets!
