Dove of Peace (paper craft): scheme

The dove of peace is a symbol of peace and harmony, first created by Ellis Gray from paper. This is a traditional scheme for beginners who try themselves in origami. Professionals went further by creating two-color volumetric pigeons from square and triangular modules. Let's consider in more detail how to make paper birds in two ways.

What are pigeons?

The dove, made in a simple origami technique, is made of a sheet of paper. In different ways, you can make the pigeon stand with its tail down or feathery, with wings folded and spread, with and without legs, with and without a crest, voluminous or flat, in flight and walking.

Where does a simple dove of paper from paper apply? After creating dozens of colorful paper birds, attach them to the fishing line. Get the original curtains or pendant for the lampshade. Extravagant fashionistas make paper bird earrings. Craftswomen use paper models for panels, cards, mini-paintings.

Modular pigeon is a voluminous craft. Moreover, it is possible to make panels from square parts or from triangular ones - a voluminous souvenir gift. The pigeon can be plain, bicolor (beak and legs red) or multicolor to emphasize the shades of feathers. But as a symbol of peace, the dove should be white.

Simple origami: dove of peace

Let's try to make a paper dove that is about to take off. To do this, take a square sheet, repeat the following steps.

dove of peace

  • Fold the square diagonally.
  • Fold the resulting triangle in half, forming a similar small figure.
  • On each side, take one corner of the base and attach it to the other.
  • Get an even smaller triangle.
  • Bend the top on each side to the base.
  • Now expand to a large triangle, where a small figure is marked with folds.
  • Bend this small triangle inside the figure. The side is also bent inward, forming a triangle on the wrong side, and the shape of a boat on the outside.
  • On the other hand, do the same, forming a boat (trapezoid).
  • Next, on each side, fold the wings along the fold line, leaving a small triangle at the end.
  • From this triangle you make the head of a bird. On each side, bend the figure obliquely.
  • Then bend the resulting pyramid and tuck in a corner.
  • Now go to the tail. Fold diagonally a triangle on each side.
  • Bend the figure, where the lines outlined two triangles that fold in half.

Please note that at each stage of the line you need to clearly work out with your hands or a metal ruler. This is the basic rule of simple origami.

Dove of peace: outline of the body and chest

For a dove, 659 white, 17 pink modular triangles, glue, β€œrunning” small eyes will be needed. You start the creation of the bird from the torso.

1-3 rows are assembled from ten modules closed in a circle.

4-6 row increase by five triangles (15 parts in a circle).

7-10 row - add seven more modules (you get 22 pieces for each row).

11-12 cut into two parts, getting 20 (for this, put the module at the same distance into three corners).

The pigeon’s chest is made up of four rows. Please note that you insert the first two rows of modules with the long side out (in the usual way), and the last two rows with the short side.

13 row consists of thirteen modules forming the breast of a pigeon.

14 assemble from twelve triangles.

You increase the 15th row by one module, getting 13 parts that you put on with the short side out.

16 assemble from twelve parts also with the short side out.

The neck and head of a modular pigeon

We continue to make modular origami "Dove of Peace". The scheme in all rows is the same: insert all modules with the short side out.

Row 17 begins with seven modules left untouched in row 12.

18 row consists of six parts.

19 assemble from five triangles.

20 do of four modules.

21 - add up to five triangles.

22 row - reduce to four parts.

23 - again consists of five modules.

24 and 25 rows are cut sequentially by one piece.

26 and 27 again consist of four and three pieces, respectively.

28 and 29 rows - repeat the next step (4 and 3 details).

Gently bend your neck to your chest so that it hangs over it. Next, proceed to collect separately the head of the pigeon.

1 row consists of three parts.

2 - increase to four triangles.

3 row - add on one module, forming 5 parts.

4-5 rows consist of four modules.

Glue the resulting head to the inside of the neck (the corners of the triangles inward).

Modular bird tail

A dove of peace from paper is almost ready. Separately, you collect the bird's tail, consisting of nine rows.

1 row consists of seven modules.

2 collect from eight triangles.

3 - again add one part, forming 9 modules.

4 row reduce to eight triangles.

5 row consists of nine parts.

6 - eight modules.

Now form the feather base of the tail. You need to make 8 feathers from three rows at the same time. First, put on two triangles with free pockets out. Insert two modules into them with pockets. Then put one triangle on top of them. Get a kind of fan with eight peaks.

If until this moment the dove of the world did not cause difficulties, then you will have to tinker with the wings, since you need to insert triangular modules with a shift to the right or left, forming a line of feathers and an internal bend of the wing. Do the wings individually. We will show a detailed diagram for one wing, do the second in mirror image.

Wing pattern

Rows 1–9 consist of eight modules, with each row shifting one triangle in the opposite direction. It turns out a kind of rhombus.

dove of peace

10 row cut to seven parts.

11-12 row of six triangles.

13 consists of five modules.

The 14-16 row is assembled from four triangles.

17-18 consists of three modules.

19-20 row do of two parts.

21-22 - insert one triangle at a time.

The wings determine what kind of movement our dove of peace performs. Craft requires care, patience and painstaking. Please note that the triangles must be inserted so that on the one hand to form a smooth bend of the wing, and on the other to form the inner side.

You do the second wing in mirror image, that is, the first wing has a feather line on the outside, and when you create the second, it is directed inside your palm. Each wing is gently bent.

Pigeon assembly

Go back to the head. The glue should dry. Now you can make a beak without fear of breakage. Take the pink triangular module and insert in the middle of the head. Next, glue the wings, tail to the body. As you can see, the dove of peace is almost ready. Origami paper craft should be strong, stable, so use the Moment glue.

It remains to make paws of pink modules. Insert five triangles into each other, getting a vertical column. Turn it upside down. From the bottom, on the sides of the module, glue along the triangle. Grease the internal corners of these two parts with glue, put on another module on top, forming a paw.

Similarly, do the second paw. While the glue dries, cut out the eyes from black paper, stick on the sides of the head. You can use store "running" eyes, then the craft will be even more beautiful. Next, glue the paws to the body. Do not try to put the bird on its feet, let the craft dry.

Summarizing

From a simple origami, a dove of peace will turn out faster. Craft from paper in modular technology looks more elegant, elegant, unusual, but requires more time to create it. It is better for beginners to master simple products from triangular modules, and then proceed to create a dove.

In addition, care is needed not only when connecting triangles, but also when gluing parts. For example, in a flying bird, the wings should be convex; if they are made concave, the pigeon will turn out to be unnatural. The tail must be glued so that the bird can lean on it in a standing position.
