If you live in a private country house or in a country house, you probably know about how, during rain, water jets from the roof flow to the ground, abundantly moistening the walls with spray. The problem here is not only in the aesthetic side of the matter: for several years of such “water procedures”, the foundation can be seriously damaged.
But all the negative consequences will be decided by a pre-installed drain for the roof. Of course, today they are sold in stores, and companies that carry out the
installation of drains cannot be counted at all. But why overpay the extra money when all the necessary operations can be done with your own hands, without involving outside specialists for work?
First you need to choose the material from which you will make a drain for the roof. Most often they are made from a strip of galvanized metal, since it can be found at any construction base for reasonable money. In addition, you may well remain in excess after covering the roof or similar work. Measure the end of the roof, determining its length. We will make water drains from the roof from sheets of material whose width is 25 cm. The longer the sheets of the material you have, the less you will need to fasten the segments together. In addition, do not forget to buy a wire with a diameter of up to three millimeters, as well as a set of screws and bolted joints.
We use metal
Using a power tool, we cut the sheets into appropriate segments. We advise you to work mechanically, since the quality of the cut in this case is much better. With the help of a homemade machine from a bar, we bend the future drain for the roof at an angle of 90 degrees. At a distance of 0.3-0.4 m from each other, drill holes for fasteners in them. Through the holes made, we thread the wire loops, bending them so that it is convenient to hook on the fasteners you bought for drains.
When mounting parts of the system must overlap each other, and for reliability between them you can fill in some kind of sealant. It would be quite nice to make a drainage system under the walls of the house in the place of runoff or just dig a storage tank into the ground. The water accumulated in it can be used for irrigation of a personal plot. Of course, the drainage system should have a slope, otherwise the water will go in the wrong direction in which you planned.
We use plastic bottles
You can make the roof drain even easier by spending even less on this. In general, you will only spend money on fasteners. To get started, find as many ordinary plastic bottles as possible, with a volume of one and a half liters. Their color is limited only by your aesthetic preferences. Work - you can’t imagine any easier way: cut the bottom and neck, carefully cutting through the sidewall. After doing this manipulation, you need to insert the bottles into each other, fastening them together with a wire or sealant. We cling the design to its place and admire our work.
As we already said, there is a way even easier: just buy a ready-made drain system in the store, and then mount it on the roof. Since it is very simple to make a drain from the roof in this way, even a very inexperienced builder will cope with it. It should be noted that the structure needs to be properly secured, since a gust of wind light plastic can disrupt.
