In some cases, when investigating criminal cases, as well as in other situations, there is a need for a handwriting examination. Its essence is to establish the correspondence of handwriting on a document with the handwriting of a particular person or to verify the authenticity of signatures.
A handwriting examination can also be assigned to establish the approximate age and gender of the test performer in the absence of samples, time, conditions of execution, etc. Such a study is quite complex and usually takes a lot of time. Its objects can be texts, signatures, digital recordings. For the examination, experimental, conditionally free and free samples are provided.
Forensic handwriting examination
Appointed in various cases: criminal, arbitration, civil, administrative, if necessary, to establish circumstances related to the study of texts (signatures). The objects may be invoices, receipts, statements, receipts, wills, contracts, etc. Not only letter designations can be investigated.
Handwriting examination can be assigned to compare numbers. The specialist is faced with identification, classification and diagnostic tasks.
Experimental samples
Selected specifically from a particular person for a comparative study. They may be necessary in the following cases:
- in the absence of free samples comparable in terms of elemental composition with records;
- to confirm the fact that free samples were performed by a verified person;
- for writing text in unusual conditions, to maximize the reproduction of those that were during the execution of the original.
If a handwriting examination of the handwriting is carried out, then the text is dictated. Entries are made in various conditions: sitting, standing, etc. During the examination of the signature, several sheets are filled out (also in different positions).
Free samples
By them we mean documents executed by the inspected in everyday life. It can be any statements, for example, about employment, notebooks, notebooks, diaries, etc. It is advisable to take those handwriting samples that were made at about the same time as the object under study. The conditions under which it was fulfilled should also be taken into account.
Freemium Samples
By them are meant the records made during the consideration or investigation of cases. These may be protocols of interrogations, explanations, petitions, statements, etc.
Repeated handwriting examination
It can be appointed if, as a result of the initial study, a reasoned and clear conclusion has not been obtained in connection with the insufficiency or bias of the expertβs conclusions. In addition to the previous questions posed in the primary, a second handwriting examination is carried out by another expert or group of specialists. The results are compared. If necessary, the court may be guided by both conclusions.
