Postcards, invitations, photo albums and personal diaries are often decorated with decorative tape. It is also widely used in "scrapbooking" - the decoration of paper books and albums with photographs, drawings, notes or old movie tickets. All this is glued to the pages with decorative tape .
There are many varieties of paper tape. The most common is "washi" - a thin Japanese paper tape. But wouldn’t it be nicer to make it with your own hands?
Beginning of work
To make the tape, you will need very few basic materials: scissors, double-sided tape and decorative tissue paper. Additionally, stamps, seals, various pens, inks, glitters, paints, markers and water-soluble crayons can be used. A cut cardboard tube or empty tape reels, on which you can wrap homemade tape, will also come in handy.
Making a homemade tape
Consider the simplest way to make decorative tape with your own hands. First you need to select several types of beautiful paper and put it on the wrong side up. If possible, try splitting the layers. Sometimes it turns out to be done, but sometimes they are too tightly glued, especially if the top is covered with acrylic paint.
Lay several rows of double-sided tape over the back of the paper. Previously, you can try on, and then firmly glue the adhesive tape to the paper. It remains to carefully iron the entire surface with a hand, slightly pressing on it. Excess paper at the edges should be cut with scissors or a clerical knife.
Turn over scotch tape and decide if it requires additional decoration. On top of it can be supplemented by stamping: today a huge number of different seals or markers with a printed pattern are sold in office stores. It is important to glue the film on only one adhesive side - the one that is applied to the paper. The reverse side of the tape is wound on a reel or its alternative, made independently of a cardboard pipe. When using a cardboard tube, simply use a small adhesive tape to secure the ends in place.
Create a ribbon with vintage images
You can try making tape with other types of paper. For example, taking a few sheets with notes or pages from an old satin - the patterns for decorative tape can be absolutely any. The paper can be visually aged by wetting it with tea bags and then drying on a battery. Also, the appearance of antiquity is perfectly created by ordinary craft paper. Then, just as described above, the most ordinary double-sided tape is glued. But in this option, perhaps you should not add any additional decorations. The paper, being thick, does not have the necessary flexibility, so it is better to just cut or tear it, and then stick it on a strip of adhesive tape.
DIY ribbon decoration
You can make a decorative tape with your own hands first to the end. This will require waxed paper and some art supplies.
Sheets of waxed paper are laid out on the table and cut into the required sizes. After this, you can start decorating, and there are no restrictions. Use paint, markers or crayons - all that you have. Water-based markers or pencils are suitable, creating the effect of a real watercolor when in contact with water, or permanent markers. You can stick as many strips of adhesive tape to it as you wish.
Many interior designers use monochromatic decorative tape to create layouts. In specialized stores, the variety of colors is great, and if you put together several suitable colors, the result will be very beautiful.
